In Tsunami-Wrecked Karst ...
« on: November 14, 2009, 06:16:36 pm »
*After praying to her goddess, it is to tsunami-wrecked Karst that a young aasimar priestess of Ilsare travels. The sight of the devastation and the hundreds of dead make her pale, and tears shine in her blue eyes.*

"Oh goddess ... surely not so many? Why? I know there are reasons, and reasons beyond reasons, but ..."

*Words fail her as she glimpses a pile of small, child-sized bodies awaiting mass burial or burning.*

*Finally, after collecting herself up, she sets about to work trying to stave off plague and disease, casting spells to ward against disease and blessings to purify on common sources of food and water, blessing the drinking waters, and gathering as many of the sick together as possible to treat them as best she can, both with simple healing supplies she brings with her, potions, and prayers to the Heartsong.*

In Karst things could be a whole lot better. The city had very little to no protections against the initial onslaught, the entirety of it was flooded and besides all the obvious structural damage, the onset of disease was near immediate. It quickly spreads to the nearby areas, and the recent problems in Lake Palden are not hard to pinpoint their origins.

Aid comes from crown and nearby cities, but the damage was too extensive and what they can manage best right now is to hope to contain the spread as best possible.

Any and all disease-ending aid that can be given goes a very long way.

((Sorry for the oh so late reply))

*The same priestess works tirelessly, with her blessings against disease, her healing, and what aid she can give. Not having much knowledge of structures, she stays to her strengths. When not treating the sick or the diseased and trying to control the epidemic, she blesses sources of drinking water, over and over, until she can do no more, trying to keep people from being infected further. She also educates as best she can on simple, basic hygiene that can do more even than magic*

*the Good Doctor Fenthon Quill sets up shop in this area, administering to mild infections and broken limbs, various maladies and illnesses.  Always with him he has a leather bound journal, in which he jots down his notes and case studies of each affliction.  He patients, though grateful for ther free and compitent medical care, seem unnerved by his eclectic bedside manner.  In particular, his tendancy for a morbid sense of humor and speaking to the diseases themselves as if they were people.  Still, his scientific methods seem sound and he gathers samples from each patient for further study as he alleviates what symptoms he can in those found suffering.  His swiftly deft dancing fingers mend lacerations with stitches masterfully sewn... truly he has the hands of a surgeon.*

A small group of adventurers arrived in Karst shortly before the arrival of the second storm front. They spent the brief time available to them recovering the dead bodies from the first tsunami and scouring the area for survivors. For the most part all that they found were wretched and diseased looters, to whom nonetheless they rendered assistance.

Spirits were lifted with the arrival of a contingent of dwarven Dorandite crafters and healers from Lyn. However, shortly thereafter the full force of the storm stuck and once more Karst was awash.

Plans for repairs had to be delayed however as the adventurers had to deal with the newly risen undead.

Prior to the arrival of the second storm, the black clothed and hooded figure that often calls himself "Adder" crouched in an area of dense debris where the flotsam and jetsam had wrapped pieces of houses and trees into a knot around a stone outcropping. A bloated body of one of the recently drowned lay before him, insects buzzing around a gaping mouth and blank clouded eyes. Adder waved his hands over the corpse in an intricate pattern and chanted a barely audible incantation. After several minutes the corpse twitched and slowly clawed its way to a semi-kneeling position. Adder stated simply "Go, walk as a testament to our Dark Lord and do his will." The newly created zombie slowly shuffled off out of sight and Adder collected his equipment and departed for business elsewhere.

ScriptWrecked's last post summarizes the events of the last wave quite nicely. The city of Karst is in dire need of help and with the arrival of the dwarven contingent, some hope is kindled. There is still however much to do, especially in the aspects of dealing with the rampant spread of virulent diseases.

Creative minds welcomed, whether for good or ill.

*Jennara deals with any undead as necessary, but tries to spend most of her time helping the injured and comforting the sick.  She assists the healers however she is able - even just runing messages about - whenever they have need of her help.*

**Argali makes it known to those tending to the displaced that should it be required, the Farstriders could accommodate some one hundred or so people at the Den in Leringard.**
