Murder in Vehl?

The home of a successful import export merchant in Fort Vehl has been closed off and subject to investigation by City Guard, Rofireinite officials, a small number of representatives of other shrines in Fort Vehl.  

Rumor is that a gruesome murder is the cause of the flurry of activity, the home remained under guard and reportedly with noone entering or leaving for hours before a select team that included priests and healers prepared magical protections and entered the home.  

Team then started entering a couple hours later and continued through most of the day.  Certainly this will be all the talk of Vehl in the days to come.

But for the moment, little is known, other than some of those that entered came back out looking green and sick.

Rumors leaked out of the first incident in the following days.  The merchant was rumored to be the victim of a brutal murder in his home.  There are speculations on the street to the details but they all seem to conflict with the next.

What does appear to be trustworthy is that three weeks later a second murder is discovered.  A city official is murdered in his home.  Rumors quickly speak that it is related to the first and that a serial killer is at work in Vehl.

While a Vehl investigation, reportedly members of the Temple of Rofirein are assisting with investigations.

*Arkolio, sitting at his mahogany desk in the opulently appointed Vault headquarters, listens to one of his under-captains run through events of the week in Vehl. There is the usual litany - thefts, bribes, stand-overs, beatings, rapes, arsons ... and murders. The last cause him to glance up briefly from his copy of 'Xeenite Priestesses of the Month' that, until then, had demanded most of his attention.*

"Murders? Had it really come to that? A dead man can repay no debts you know. Tell me, they owed us how much?"

"M'Lord. 'Twas not us that ordered the murders. 'Twas someone indep- ... indepi- ... someone not us."

*Full attention now. The Xeenite tome placed face down on Priestess Decilar.*

"Not us?"

"No M'Lord."

"No-one wanting in ... trying to make an impression?"

"If so, they ain't come forth and said nothin' M'Lord."

*A long pause*

"Well, we can't have that can we? Find out who it is and bring them in."
