The skies.
« on: September 22, 2008, 10:39:56 am »
As the smoke and debris settles over the battlefields of Belinara, the sun sets and the clouds part to reveal the bevy of stars in the skies.

All is not as it was.

Faintly in the background there is a new light in the heavens. It is not a constellation but a faint trail of light.

Those with bent backs and grey hair whisper of the return of some sort. A light not seen in many human generations and thought only to be a tale of sailors and dreamers.

*Sion sits, staring at the new formation for hours at night, wondering what it could mean.*

*Sil'via lying down beside Gala, looking at the stars while talking to her, looks at the constellation and tries to remember the stories she would have heard about it.*

*Amidst her wide travelling trying to garner support for the embattled people of Kuhl Sasha pauses and watches the comet, and utters a curse then whoops for joy.*

"Watch out Dragon Stealers! Your day of reckoning is coming!"

Feeling hope in her heart for the first time in ages Sasha quickly gathers up her things hoping that Storold and many others have seen the sign too.

Tyra looks up after hearing a group of people talking about the skies one night.
"Well what the hell is that?"
With that she walks off in hopes of finding someone who knows about such things...

*Chakar, scanning the skies from his home's frontyard in Wayfare with his trusty telescope. Spots the strange new light, but can not focus on it properly, and starts to wonder what it might be and what it could mean.*

* Sall appears suddenly, sprawled on his back near the Dalanthar Bindstone, unconscious and dressed in naught but tattered rags.

When he finnaly wakes up, the night sky is painted before him like on a canvass, and after a few moments, he spots the faint outline of the Comet.

He covers his face with his hand, groaning and cursing softly " The hell ya gone and done Sall." ..... before trying to drag himself to his feet and limp out of town.

[INDENT]One halfling's feet dangle from a tree branch above a common gathering point at a crossroads. Her head is tilted back as she watches the skies, and the tune she sings to them is simple and singsongy, reminiscent of children's clapping games.

[INDENT][INDENT]Dragon, dragon, by the tail
One to heal, and one to fail
Winds of change, and fortune's edge,
Which of us will gain your pledge?

Every coin has faces two,
They will see with your debut
Both will cheer at your return
But which will gain and which will burn...

Dragon, dragon, by the tail,
What is "win" and what is "fail" ?
Twinkle, twinkle, stars up high
Just reach up and touch the sky...

*Tod pauses in the middle of the road near Fort Hempstead and pushes his hood back. He stares up at the sky with his black eyes wide and shining. He stands the until a wagon comes into view and he moves to the forest to look up from there for a few minutes*

The bright sunlight of summer does little to mask the light trail that is now high in skies as it courts the Jewel and the Fools.  Its height in the sky has sooth sayers on street corners preaching doom while others advise times of great prosperity ahead.  How can one celestial object generate such fuss?

The lighted trail that has become for sailors and dreamers a nighttime friend slowly creeps toward the horizon once again, it light fading ever so slightly each and every eve.

**Argali looks up into the clear night sky, her attention drifts from star to star to star. The fading streak of light catches her eye. Her lips sour as she considers the possible implications of the waning comet.**

"It would zeem the time iz running out..."
