Reports from the towns and villages around the Silkwood tell of gnolls venturing out of the mines and clashing with ogres and even attacking the settlements to steal food and supplies. Miners from Haven are frustrated that the tremors are collapsing and flooding shafts that have been sturdy and dry for decades and that gnolls are making patrols into their territory. Large spiders are venturing closer to the forest edge and the rotting carcasses of three grey hulking creatures were found near Haven.
Strange times indeed.
Charlie is heard talking about finding Umbers in the silkwood caves along with a zombie or two and rats, large ones. Not counting the usual stench of spider guts, there was a peculiar musty smell to spider caves as well, probably due to the brackish water that was over gnome deep by the bottom. After talking to Nechemiah, Charlie wonders what the pits is going on underground that has Haven Mines, Arindors, and Silkwood spider cave in such a mess.
Sebair tells everyone who wants to listen in Center (and a lot of people who would rather not) about dangerous undead lurking in the Silkwood caves. He explains that it was only due to his heroics that these creatures were not allowed to reach the surface and corrupt the forest. When pressed for more information he admits that he had significant help from another adventurer named Borris, however he still claims that people should donate ale and wine to him to ensure that he can continue to keep the population safe from these horrible monstrosities lurking in the spider caves.
The tremors around Haven have been getting stronger as of late and rock falls around caves in the Silkwood have been making the area more dangerous for travelers and adventurers alike. That, combined with an odd surge of undead and fleeing denizens, is turning the Silkwood into something completely different. Locals have started to send out requests for aid to surrounding areas to fix the problem- whatever it is.
