Nesar capitulates

For days terror rules the streets of Arnax, the horror spreads into nearby farmlands as well and there is not one person who will not forget the two days of horror when the Corathites and the Pyrtechonites destroyed the Green Dragon Cultists that had surrounded Tower Veroer for so long.

At the end of it, when the dead returned to their graves, when the nightmares subsided, the screams faded and the blood stopped flowing, that was when Queen Maillard sent messengers to each quarter of her kingdom with the following proclaimation.

"On this day, on this hour, we do proclaim that Nesar no longer stands in the shadow of the threat of Kuhl and the Green Dragon Cult. No longer do we fear their dragons for we have shown there are those amongst us able to overcome such a threat.

We declare that Nesar will return to nuetrality and cease to participate in any actions, or allow any actions by Kuhl or the Green Dragon Cult or those who would ally themselves against them to occur on Nesar soil.

We have the word of those who have liberated our nation that they will stand with us to prevent any and all who would seek to use our lands again, or attempt to subjugate us. Be they Kuhl and the Green Dragon Cult, or those that oppose them."

Within hours of the Queens declarations reports start to emerge from northern border outposts that the Cult army stationed south of Vilsa, across the river, has started to march southwest towards Nith clearly making their intentions clear.

People start to talk about how this will test the promised alliance with those that liberated, if you could call it that, their city from the Cult force stationed there.

Queen Maillard has issued orders for all available soldiers to make for Nith and establish defensive positions there. Civilian defence units will be pressed into service in Fort Miritrix and Prim.

Since the last week when the Queen called on all reserves to make their way to the border cities with Hilm and Kuhl the roads have been choked with traffic in northern Nesar.

Fort Miritrix guardsmen have taken over the control of arriving soldiers and setting up barracks for them to stay in and started to oversee the erection of defences outside the Fort.

In Nith the usually peaceful town has been thrown into chaos, ships have left to be taken to Arnax for protection while several thousand soldiers have set up in camps around the city waiting for instructions on how to prepare for the coming Cult army. No one seems to be truly in charge and apart from camps being set up for the incoming soldiers no defences are being prepared nor thought of it seems to counter the Cult army coming their way.

It seems that many of the senior military officials that might coordinate such things have disappeared along the way.

Back in Arnax Queen Maillard has once again been seen entering Tower Veroer after hearing of the problems occuring in Nith.

And at the time when the Sederran Conflict has entered its third official week the advancing Cult army is spotted by scouts across the border in Kuhl. They quickly pack up their camps and flee back to Nith to warn those approaching of the army soon to arrive.

Nith itself is in turmoil, many inhabitants of the midly prosperous city have fled south, including many of the authorities of the city. Mercenary bands have taken up residence in some estates and plundered others. Army units sent to the front are lackluster in their attempts to control the problems in the city themselves hacing been ordered to build defensive fortifications outside the city near the river in preparation for the coming assault.

Ravens wander the streets oblivious to laws and what remaining authority remains doing what they will whenever they will, waiting for the call to feast on the blood of their enemies.

Rumours abound and terror rules the night as people believe Drach Tesaks have infiltrated the city and are assasinating leaders of the armies and the city.

All in all things look grim in the city in terms of discipline and any sort of coordinated defence.

In Miritrix however, after many years of dealing with marauding bands of adventurers the local authorities have arranged a solid defensive strategy to combat the smaller Cult force seen heading towards them. They seem as ready as they will ever be having also a large contingent of farmers and district folk pressed into service to help in the defence.
