The old Weary Traveler sign is gone, splintered by a thug's dagger - a temporary sign hangs from the old black iron links.

The door is re-lacquered, weeds pulled, loose flagstones tamped down.  Contractors come and go with supplies.  The proprietors, a tall Tilmarian man and a petite elven woman, pack away most of the loose furniture.  Much hammering and sawing is heard from inside and those who come in for a drink from the recently re-stocked bar see evidence all over that work is being done.

A portal is moved from a back room to prominently by the front door.

As construction starts in earnest, both above and below the tavern area, workmen arrive via the city gates - the only local contractors used are those recommended by the former owner.  The remainder of the construction crews are dwarves from parts other than Mariner's Hold.

Sometimes seen is a dwarf with red hair, who acts as a liaison between the proprietors and the work crews.

Protecting the Silver Buckle

Coming and going within the building and also seen outside looking thoughtfully and mumbling incoherently to any who do not understand the Al'noth are men and women who some may recognize as teachers of the Tower Academy under strict guidance from the renowned Omer and Priestess Elohanna, setting in place various wards to make the building resistant to water, fire, wind, as well as illusions to protect from divination, and wards to detect such attempts being made to keep the future occupants safe.

*Adder notices the new sign: "The Silver Buckle, Entertainment and Fine Lodging" hanging outside the old inn while passing through the city. The activity surrounding warding and laying of protective enchantments keenly interests him, and he leans against the wall of a shadowed alcove in a nearby building eating an apple while he observes.*
