Corruption in the Vehl guard

*Tristan, walks in to the Temple of Rorfirein in Vehl and brushes snow off his tattered blue cloak.  After breathing on his hands to warm them, he pulls back his cowl and scans the room.  Seeing a priest of he walks up to it with a grim look on his face*

Pardon me for interrupting your daily duties but I had an interesting run in with the half-orc currently watching the gates of this city.

*he looks sheepish for a moment and then smiles confidently*

Where are my manners?  I am Tristan DeMoyer, Protector of the Weave and a faithful ally of your faith.  I hope you take this message in the spirit of that alliance.

*he clears his throat*

So this half-orc, whose name escapes me, approached myself and Protector Storold, who were standing by the water taking conversation with two other travellers, and the half-orc demanded money of us for protection.  At first, we were confused as to who or what our protection was from; we were far from any of the bandit laden roads and there was no imminent threat of invasion so far as we could tell.  When we pressed the half-orc, he made it abundantly clear that the protection was from him.  When we balked at his threats, he menaced us with the promise of his purportedly bigger brother.  Now being men of peace and I like to think, intelligence and civiltiy, we saw no need to match aggression with aggression and James Hearth, one of the aforementioned travellers gave him a single true.  This seemed to satisfy the half-orc for the moment, but he still tried to leave us with a lasting threat of his danger.  No blows were exchanged, we went on our way in to the mountains and he said nothing to us on our return.  But still this remains: that this half-orc has abused his position of trust in the guard for his own personal gain, that he threatened people outside of this free-cities gates with bodily harm and in doing so calls in to question his own morals, and ability to perform his duties in an acceptable fashion.  I wonder if your noble values would tolerate such an offense or if perhaps you would trust my word enough to investigate the matter for yourself?  I leave it in your wisdom how to proceed.  What say you faithful of the Lord Protector?

*Tristan regards the priest with deference and awaits a reply*

* The young acolyte that receives you makes a note of your complaint. You would judge him to be 18 years old at the most, and in a cracking voice he tells you that the city guard are controlled by the ruler of the city. He ensures you that your complaint will be brougt before the ruler, and hints that there have been other complaints. Lastly he offers his gratitude to you for making this report. *

* Through the entire ordeal you cannot help but feel that the acolyte is displeased at the state of the city and how it is run. He tries to keep this to himself, but you cannot help but notice his emotions. *

*Tristan nods and gives the accolyte a reassuring squeeze on his shoulder*

These days are trying and as food becomes scarcer will become more so.  But now more than ever is when we need the shining example of Rorfirein.  I thank you for your time and generosity and perhaps acolyte you would make it your personal duty to badger the administration as much as possible.

*he smiles a devious, yet friendly smile*

Become a real thorn in their side.  Take care, and may Lucinda shower you with splendors.

*Tristan turns and limps towards the door, as he steps in to the street, he can be heard whispering words in a strange tongue*
