  ((OOC
These will be martial arts classes taught by my PC based upon a RL book called A Book of Five Rings written by Miyamoto Musashi. He is a famous samurai born in 1584 and whose deeds and writings have been translated by many. Ingame it will be RPed that name of the author of these teachings has been lost to history. The text, though, should make for a good basisof RP for a follower of Vorax.

*Lucius sees the note and stops to read it, thinking out loud*

Martial arts! I must attend these readings, perhaps I can learn something to complement my training. I wonder when they'll be.

A dwarf, wearing armor in the traditional colors of Vorax, can be seen at the Hlint benches with a sturdy leather tomb in hand.  Embossed in red and silver, in dwarven, is the title "A Book of Five Rings."  The book appears well cared for, though of an indeterminate age.
He inquires to those gathered there if they would be willing to hear him read from the book.  For, he says, he needs the practice of reading aloud to an audience.  He then reads a brief passage on technique, combat, or tactics from the thick volume. Though the quality of his performance, if it can be called such, varies greatly, it is clear his effort is sincere and the message he shares important to him.
After each performance, he moves off and appears to be copying the words from the original tomb into a new-looking book.  He mumbles the dwarven words to himself as he does so, often pausing to reflect on the paragraphs just copied.

Readings from The Fire Book this week.   Here is a passage from the translator of Musashi's work:
To train in Kendo one must subjugate the self, bear the pain of gruelling practise, and cultivate a level mind in the face of peril.  But the Way of the sword means not only fencing training but also living by the code of honour of the samurai elite.  Warfare was the spirit of the samurai's everyday life, and he could face death as if it were a domestic routine.  The meaning of life and death by the sword was mirrored in the everyday conduct of the feudal Japanese, and he wo realised the resolute acceptance of death at any moment in his everyday life was a master of the sword.  It is in order to attain sucn an understanding that later men have followed the ancient tradition of the sword-fencing styles, and even today give up their lives for Kendo practise.
Can you think of a more apt quote for many of our PCs?  I can't.  Come join me in bringing a RL master's words to life.
