Gem crafting

I noticed a little something that left me perplexed.

While cutting adventurine, Fehriel was receiving 5 xp at 85%. But then I cut a malachite that was also at 85% and only received 1 xp. So there I was wondering to myself, if it's the same % why is it not the same xp? I can only think that's it's because malachite is considered a lower cr gem, but then again wouldn't that make it easier to cut?

Well there's no reason for you to have the same % for Malachite as Aventurine, unless for the Aventurine you had a buff in effect that wasn't in effect for the Malachite, as the recipes themselves are of a different "level", as are their base XP.

So getting 5XP for one and 1XP for the other at the same chance makes sense, so the only question is why you had 85% for each. I'd say either you mis-read on one or you had a buff in place, because they shouldn't give you the same chance, all things being equal.

Yep, gems go like so in CR..

Greenstone, Malachite, Fire Agate = easiest
Then comes Aventurine, Phenalope = +10% difficult in crafting
And each and every gem type from thereforth in the crafting list counted downwards in the list is 10% tougher than the one above.
