took months gathering materials and gems and potions to make tiger gloves. Had a 25 % chance to succeed. First time... success.

Found a dwarf to mine me some coal. Went out an dug me some sand... spent hours digging and managed 1'200lbs of sand. (That's right) Made the glass piece of cake.... went to make the rods.... thought "alright, I'll do it one at a time" yet I put all my coal on forgettin that I don't get to chose how many I want to make rolled a 1, and made a grand total of 0 level IV rods.
*Casts Cats Grace on self* *Casts Eagles Splendor on self* *Runs and buys everything he needs to craft his diamond* Came back and tried to cut it... my spells wore off and my % chance dropped by 15%. Before I needed a 6 or greater to make it, my spells wore off and I needed a 9+ to make it... I rolled an 8.  :(

Gretchen once braved numerous deadly Color Sprays to mine tin from two deposits. Each deposit yielded exactly one nugget of tin before breaking. On another occasion she made two runs for greenstones, checking five deposits per visit, and got two greenstones. It seems her (un?)lucky number is two.

If you think you're having bad just know it does even out. The Crafting Rolls chart (Here: http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=15398&posts=17 ) shows that.

And yikes watch out for those color sprays!  :)

Still think it's a conspiracy that I get bad rolls on the hard stuff, and good rolls on the easy stuff.

Mine's the other way around... I made a suit of bronze full plate in one try with a 35% chance, and on another occasion blew a smelting job with a 95% chance. To each his own curse, I guess. :)

In the interests of balance.  I just got an absurdly lucky roll.  Another 50 lumps of clay and 4 more shovels wasted.  Not good, So I thought "ah well I'll put 40 lumps in at once", and you know what?  SUCCESS.

Mostly posting this for myself...so when I get a run of bad luck I don't forget about this one.  :)

It seems no matter what you craft when the chance of sucess is 95% you roll a 1 9 times out of 10.

Grog's first attempt at smelting Copper had 40 attempts with a 50% chance of success, and he failed every single one of them.

On the flip side, he has found 2 Emeralds, 1 Diamond, and 1 Ruby since then. ;)

Only found one diamond in two years of playing, rolled a 1 on 95% while cutting it

Rolled a 1 while making an emerald ring on 90%, all together it took me 8 emeralds to make 3 pieces of jewelry. Those 1s and 2s really come at a bad time.

Plus so many other failures that I can't even remember them

            I got 4 branches of mahagony, ...
so I tried to craft them to get some arrowshafts, had to roll under 9 to fail:
            first roll: 1
            second roll:2
            third roll:3
            fourth roll:8

            ouch...must have hurt....
              made pies once....70% of success.....made 1 out 5
....on the other hand I have never failed a compound bow yet...even when I took a flyer on a mahogany compound with 40% chance..
so I guess it balances out.....but 70% is my jinx number....always seem to fail at that....rather take the rings off and craft at 65% than craft at 70%

Done a lot of crafting dont rember ever geting a 20 but i have had lots of 1's
I would like to see the bell curve on expanded probalibaty
Meening that the more chance you have to roll good the more you higher than needed and etc lower for lower

so 40% you get lots and lots of 1's 70% chance lots and lots of 20

or is it the 5 red cars on the road problem where you only see the patten not the fourm.

When you succeed, you don't see what you rolled.

It's impossible to know whether you rolled a 20 or not unless the item you are making has an exceptional version if you do roll a 20.

            -Jester

EDIT: Or if you only have a 5% chance of making the item and you succeed. Then you know you rolled a 20. ;)
