It is another sad day in Layonara. This time we have a large group of abusers and exploiters that are being banned.

• “Sex clan” mother --this was ordered to be disbanded by Rhizome and other GM’s  
• Found nude in NPC Legodias tent with PC Legodia then went to nearby stream to spread mud over each others bodies before returning to the tent to snuggle(screen shots) – Did this after the ‘clan’ was broken up and we clearly spelled out the rules of which he disregarded.  
• Numerous argumentative situations with the denial of CDQ's – to the point of being ludicrous  
• one of the people involved with the “attempted rape” of a PC

                      All of these characters share multiple houses and keys to each and every house (household access) … and yet none of them are very high level (only one is 13th and the next highest is 10th)—strange don’t you think? On top of that multiple members in this ‘group’ are exploiting and have been for some time. We have watched them duplicate and then run from pawn shop to pawn shop (in different towns) draining them of gold in order to get the gold to purchase the houses and other items. Just by the sheer number of houses, at least 30-50 chests in each houses, the sheer number of items in the chests in each house—that should be a red flag for somebody that cares about the community and Layonara.
                     
                      On top of all of this their ‘new characters’ were immediately muled and found ‘new friends’ within mere minutes of character creation—very poor RP and a clear violation of muling.
                     
                      This is disgusting and disheartening and does nothing but harm the community and the well intentioned players. These people have voiced complaints on the forums about being unfair or not right or how things are wrong… and yet these people are doing this nonsense? Come on, this is ridiculous and it will not be tolerated.
                     
                      Due to all of the exploiting, the low level crafters, the amount of pure number of crated items amongst such low level crafters and the number of crafting attempts made in comparison. The comments of “discounted merchants” amongst those involved in this group clearly shows that most knew what was happening but did not care at all and instead choose to go along for the ride. That they could own so many houses at their levels just shows how far this went. On top of that these people being involved with a sex clan that had sex with each other via telepathy and with the gods and such (disgusting by the way) I am done with all of them.
                     
                      As such…All houses are hereby confiscated as well as all items in chests etc. All gold in the bank for each character mentioned above is now removed.  All members listed above are now banned as defined above.
                     
                      There are a few players that have houses with these people that are caught in the middle and may not have known what was happening—albeit surprisingly. To them I am sorry this just happened. But these people will no longer be tolerated in this community. For them to sink this low and then to continually bemoan and cause problems is just not acceptable.
                     
                      To the ONE player that came forward the other day with concerns thank you and that alone shows you have good intentions and just got mixed up with the wrong group of people. Good job and thank you. However, you definitely have items in your inventory that was ill-gotten by those you have associated with. We need to fix that problem so send me a PM with your suggestion.
                     
                      To those that we did not catch you got lucky this time, and I hope you learn your lesson. We had to end it now as this was starting to harm far too many of the community on a very large scale.

                      We have been tracking them for a long time but we were trying to get as many in one sweep as possible. It just got to be so bad that we had to end it now before it destroyed the fabric of the community. I am sorry you had to tolerate their nonsense and disgust for so long; we needed to get as many of this group as possible in this round. Can you imagine the amount of time this took away from the community? Well over a dozen GM's were involved in tracking this nonsense for hours and hours on end. So much for the GM’s spending our time to allowing players to quest and have fun.
                     
                      The 'Sex Clan/Clan' and all its seedy connotations I find distasteful, and I don’t think that we should show any leniency to players that have behaved in its sordid activities. There is a wide range of age groups that have visibility and play on this server, and as such I for one would not like to think that any younger players or innocent spectators should be witness to such disgusting behaviors. There are places for that sort of thing, and Layonara is most certainly not one of them.
                     
                      The central figures in this whole "clan" thing have transitioned the same basic tactics of recruiting for the "trading company", basically a front for duplication and exploiting clearly. In fact, the only part that was really dropped was the sexual recruiting and the sex with the gods and junk—though they still got naked in the forest and such, another clear violation even after being warned.  They still refer to Azaria as "mother" and Roxx as "father" or "papa". It is clear they have not taken to heart the opportunity we gave them and as such we are done. Basically they have ignored us and decided to do things their own way at whatever costs. As such my trust in all of them is totally gone and I do not trust that they are not using tells and such for the sex that we told them not to do any more. I want to make it clear that they were warned before and the clan was broken up, but then they started down this road of duplicating and exploiting and bringing more and more members.  It had to be stopped.

It did strike me as odd how they could have bought so many houses together. Especially since some of these people had been complaining on the forum about a lack of housing.

Yes, that's the first thing I had to say when I read all of this. Personally, I found the greater portion of the people who have been banned to be reasonably good RPers, and I consider the consequences of thier poor choices to be as much of a loss to the community as the choices themselves. I found it almost hard to believe that some of them had been using item duplication exploits, and, while I can't say I'm "shocked" or "horrified," it does trouble me that they would go to the trouble after repeated warnings...

Item duplication... It's something from nothing. And frankly, all it does is ruin the Layonaran economy even more. There's a reason we have the Lens of Pricing, and a reason there are rules against Muling. This is a ROLEPLAYING server, not a powergame! I'm sad to see these people go... And even sadder to see that they had poor enough judgement to not go about something that could be a valid RP tool in the proper ways.

The whole "Sex Clan" thing... I'm more than a bit surprized it went on. I thought the whole business was done with, back when the first announcement was made. A great deal of very good RPing came from it, before it got out of hand, but when it did... Aye, personal liability can stretch very, very far. Sex is no less a part of life than death... And that is reflected in good RPing (when it comes up, anyway). Incredible character development can come from interactions between characters in that manner... But not only is it a mark of poor taste to do so in an explicit, more-or-less-public manner, it also marks a particular lack of skill in the player. My character, Pyyran Rahth, had an encounter with another character, a few weeks back. It was in a reasonably secluded location (as was quite IC for both characters; privacy and all that), and was also at a relatively low-traffic time of day. But more than that... Everything was kept from being too explicit, and orchestrated through PMs. Let me tell you, it was one of the most difficult bits of writing I've had to do in a long while, and it also involved a great deal more character development than any other single event in my character's played life. I even got a few XP from a DM that happened to be watching. I'm not patting myself on the back; all I'm trying to do it illustrate how things can be done properly. "X: *Moves faster* | Y: *Gasps louder*" is NOT good RPing any more than saying you've got an eight-foot-tall halfling.

We've lost some of the more interesting characters, because of thier players' bad choices. Let's not lose any more, eh? We still need SOMEONE to fight Bloodstone.

*sighs* Why do people behave like that, we have a nice communety and a very nice world, where we can have fun with all sorts of things. Yet again and again we see these cursed people that exploit a system, ruining the fun for the rest of us and especially the DM team. My only hope is that we some day can stop waisting our time and energy on these kind of people.

I'm glad you've banned them sooner rather than later...to be honest this sort of thing has always worried me a lot when it comes to online games...mainly due to the fact that in this country it seems that any suggestion of 'Sex' or 'Enticing' leads to you being persumed guilty rather than innocent, basically it seems you have to prove your innocence publically too not just in court.  In fact the 'Enticing a minor' or whatever its called, is actually a criminal offence in this country and that covers all types of 'virtual sex' or sexual language with minors.  Of course even the accusation would mean your name in the newspapers and for someone like me it would mean the end of my professional careea as well, as even just the accusation means being struck off the professional register.

So Leanthar and the team you have my heartfelt thanks for your prompt action

I have only seen these people on Layo, and am new here...
BUT, my son does watch over my shoulder.  Too young to play yet, but he'll love to be on here when I let him.  (he just likes to kill things... I can imagine him running through the forest killing things and running into that)
I'm glad that our characters cannot be completely naked, that relieves me quite a bit
and I had no idea any of this was happening.  But, as a newbie: I stand behind your decision 150%!

This is wrong ... i didnt have a clue and i was certainly not involved in this in anyway . I purchased the potion of bull strengh and my scroll i have collected from day one . The Helmet of armour i borrowed from Talon because i lost mine and she said she had potion of barskins she could use , so i thought nothing of it .

Im actually gutted that this whent on. Lan knows several of the characters these people played and their disappearance will trouble him greatly. Why can';t people just play be the rules and enjoy the experience the same as everyone else?

I've had near misses in the past on other systems with such behavior but the scale of this hurts the intestines.
  Two of my characters had met most of these people at one time or another in a tangental manner....never got to hang with them at length but who knows......yargh!
  But I must go bathe now anyway....alot....with bleach.
      Oh...and go donate to these folks...the hours of work alone to make this an open and shut case is amazing.

while I was only vaguely familiar with most mentioned there, and I had no idea there was a *coughs* 'sex clan'? I knew two of the characters pretty well, had some good RP with them, and, as in the past when such things have come up, I am horribly upset.  But L is right, plain and simple (go figure, it's his world afterall).  Such things as a 'sex clan,' not to mention the exploits (seven houses!!!!!!  good god!), have no place on Layo.  Romance, sure, but a (still boggling over this) 'sex clan'?  *sits with his elbows on the desk propping up his head, trying to think of something constructive to say, only to find himself at a loss for words*

Azaria, Bopthor and Talia all put such a bad taste in my mouth a few days ago that I had told all three of them that they were dead to me for their idiocy, Ie: not to talk to me in game, OOC, vie PM or Tells, to just altogether not interact with me at all.  I was so disgusted at how they handled division of resources, the constant gratuitous lesbian snuggling and total lack of RP that I pretty much had it.  I was actually in the process of converting about 3 screens worth of shots to report Talia for constantly sending me tells after the fact, but was still trying to figure out how to convert the files for a proper report.

The three of them had become such a thorn in my sanity's side that I would log onto the website, check the server status list, and if two or more of them were logged on, I just wouldn't play for the afternoon.  Talking to Acacea and Vyris, I found they pretty much felt the same way.  Then I started to notice something...  whenever the members of this stupid sex cult were logged in, there was practically nobody else on the server.  I honestly feel that these bad eggs fouled up the entire experience of the game for me and several others to the point where their mere presence was sickening.

That entire freaky cult had me dreading this place.  Now I can log in and live again.

Thank you Leanthar and all staff participating in the sting.  I just got my Christmas present!
