Well, I have recently realized the need for a backup character, in case primary one collects enough tokens, or is simply in wait for a CDQ. I was thinking of doing an unusual build, but before I do that, I suppose I wanted to weigh all available options and get as much advice as I could.
The eventual buld I am considering is a lawful good halfling rogue/paladin, either short bow or sling wielding one. Now I know this is a very unusual combination. 5 Paladin levels will be taken mostly for character development and taunt skills.
The build would probably be: 10 Rogue/5 Paladin/5 Rogue
Or 10 rogue / 10 Paladin, although the first one sounds more tempting and I know that I would not be able to return to paladin levels, once I stop taking them and that it would probably require a 2nd cdq to go back to rogue.
The starting stats would be one of the thre following:
STR 6
Dex 20
CON 10
INT 10
Wis 8
CHA 16
or
STR 6
Dex 20
CON 10(+2) or
INT 10 (+2)
Wis 10
CHA 14
or
STR 6
DEX 19
CON 11
WIS 10
INT 10
CHA 16
Now the skills that I'd be developing are pretty set to Hide, Move Silently, Persuade, Disable Trap, Listen, Use Magic Device, Tumble and Taunt (for which paladin levels would be used) and perhaps Spot. Now this would be an extremely party oriented character and it would not do too much damage, unless it manages to sneak attack or be much good against undead... But it would have a heal ability for once a day and would be a pretty nice scout, and general enemy irritator. I know rogue/fighter build would be more realistic and less challenging, especially since it would allow for weapon specialization, opening a door for more damage, but detracting much from RP. Granted I know, that as paladin, this character would get no spells. The whole idea here is that this average halfling turned to Lucinda or Aeridin and follows that churches teachings. And use non-standard weapons (i.e. a short bow or a sling). Since a staff is too large for him to wield...
I'd appreciate any advice on this.
