My life as Dalek
« on: August 22, 2005, 06:10:00 am »
I have a mate who teaches Computer Science and Virtual realty at UCL (uk) who came up with a description and definition of a computer gamer
That is very astute His premise was this that Computer Games are Darlicks and this is way.

You may ask well.
He listed the two parties as such

Perception of the world is derived from séances

Daleks
Sight-A single view of the world (one eye)
Hearing-Badly conveyed sound.
Smell-None
Touch-None
Taste-None

A Computer Game player.
Sight-A single view of the world (one eye)
Hearing-Badly conveyed sound.
Smell-None
Touch-None
Taste-None

Ways to interact with the world
Daleks
Movement-Very Limited
Manipulation of objects- One Sucker to pick stuff up and one weapon to kill stuff

Game Player
Movement-Very Limited
Manipulation of objects- One mouce pointer to pick stuff up and a weapon to kill stuff

Emotional behavior
Daleks
Body Language- None
General emotional representation-Very Limited
Displaying Emotional behavior-very limited/none
True feeling for others in the world- None

Game Player
Body Language- None
Body Language- None
General emotional representation-Very Limited
Displaying Emotional behavior-very limited/none
True feeling for others in the world- None

So as a One eyes single view point kill, none empathic psychotic killing masheen we are all just Darlicks. What a sad Evation we humans have had

Daleks, from Doctor Who?

This one took me awhile, as I'm in the US.

I don't particularly agree, though. I've compared gamers (of all sorts!) to all kinds of things over the years, and I've never been referred to as "astute." I need to work on that.

Oh, the evolution of society that has led us down the road of the...actually, it's 7:30AM, and I'm up. What more do you want from me? WHAT?
