It's random, %/lvl... Starting at lvl4 was it... So at lvl7 you have a 7% chance per death, at lvl30 it's 30%... so on.

I thought it doubled in the epic levels so at level 30 you would have a 60% chance? Did that change some time in the past year?

Yes it had been reverted to just % per level at epic stages. Not double.

isn't there anyway of getting parts of your soul back from the soul mother? Beat and tie her up, stick her in the cupboard and take your soul back? no?
           ;)

There is an epic feat 'soul mother resistance' or some such, that raises the number of DT's you may get to 15 before you become a lackey of the Soul Mother, or.. whatever she does with you.

Is there anyway to have a DT removed, thus preventing your character from actually undergoing final death?

What the others above have said is as sound as any advice I can give.  All I'll say to weigh into this discussion is to adress your question regarding the reduction of death tokens.  It doesn't happen.  There is only one circumstance where something similar is possible.  That is when your character permanently dies and a group of your friends and loved ones journey to the Soul Mother to plead for your soul back.  This has never happened in the history of Layonara, and with good reason.  Anyone dying in such proximity to the Soul Mother will be instantly lost forever.

The reason there is no mechanism in place to reduce your Death Tokens is simple.  If you could reduce them, then death wouldn't have the same permanence, the same weight that it currently has.  This gravity about death is important for keeping things "in the real" when talking about IC reactions to death and to prevent people from being death defying maniacs in battle.  Though it seems it's not deterring many *winks*

          Thanks for your post.

As far as I know DTs are final unless caused by lag and the DM team so ok to a removal.

yeah, ummm, pretty much... don't die.  (unless you play a crazy mercenary who almost never is at full health.  then you die all the time.  and have plenty of DT's to boot)

how in the world do you prove that a DT was caused by lag. I have at least two of my DTs caused by lag issues. I tried to run away but lag slowed me down and not the bad guys :)
