You know that child's laugh in Hlint?   What do you think of it?

Kinda creepy I guess, but I don't notice it too much.  For some reason if its night in Hlint and I hear it I always turn around and check behind me.  Heh.

I don't think I've ever noticed it.  Now, of course, I will hear it every time since its been pointed out and thats how these things work.  :P

I don't think it's creepy... it's just really annoying, and has way too much reverb on it. Sounds like the kid's laughing inside a giant steel drum. ;)

Annoying; although, I've gotten used to it somewhat.

It really doesn't disturb me. Those screamin sounds in Dire Woods are more annoying for me :)

The whole giggling thing really bothered me at first... then I realized that I could simply make that sound... go away.

As of right now NWN has no sound, no music, nothing... why? It bothered me too much while I was trying to run quests that I resolved to simply turn it off. I now run Win Amp in the background with over 500 songs of my choosing every month.

the fact that I dont remember any laughing sound in hlint and I often acctually listen to the nwn sound made me answer the second option.

I like it for a few reasons. One it reminds me that thier is a populated city full of life that we just don't see not just the few lushes in the bar and a handfull of adventurers. It also reminds me of Dorina(sp?) the Inn greeters sister who Aeyl was part of the quest that searched for her, because the sound is a bit creepy and I think of it as her ghost still playing in the street around the inn. Just my 2 copper.

I was scared of it at first then I found it creepy...like some little girl had fallen down the well and died and her ghost travels the streets.  :o

It's not so much the girl laughing that is annoying, but the music in Hlint--ugh!  No offense, but can I turn that off without losing the other sounds?

            Definitely annoying.

I have 3 computers in the same room, and it drives everyone crazy, especially when all 3 are on layo. hehehe

We usually turn the sound low/off and play our own mp3s on one of the compys.

Go into the menu and find "Sound Options"  There are three sliders, one is for music.

I have so many custom sounds and soundtracks in my directory it's ridiculous, so luckily I don't need to hear the ambient giggles.  I do specifically remember destroying those 1st thougj, heheh, so yeah, the laughing did drive me crazy.

Meanwhile I have about 4 seperate music folders that I renname and alter to fit the themes I want at the time.

            1) the heavily celtic collection.  The soundtrack music is mostly from a few old celt cds I've fallen in love with, only 2 songs from Braveheart (the reprisals of the main theme got old fast), and a heck-of-a-lot of David Arkenstone.  I also substituted the tavern music and some of the fight music with Flogging Molly and The Pogues.  I play this soundtrack whenever I'm running Farros Galdor or Harcourt Maconnelly (rogue/bard I have onm another server)

            2) the 80s video game soundtrack set.  Majority of it final fantasy and castlevania done in full orchestra form, some Legand of Zelda I found too.  Also have some midi's of Megaman, Contra and other assorted pieces I remastered using Cubase.  I split up the midi file and ported the data to VST instruments and redid some of the drums in Reason 3 for a few of them and saved it in wav format, then converted them to fit the NWN standard.

            3) The most medeival soundtrack of all time.  All the temples have gregorian chamber music, the taverns play festive celt-variety, a lot of the Lord of the Rings soundtrack made it into this cut.  (that orc-war/army of sauron music is wicked)  Old classics like Greensleeves and some Andre Segovia classical guitar made the mix too.

            4) the backup of the old soundtrack... gathering dust. ;)

Used to also have a Starwars set I had found, complete with the swords sounding like lightsabers and many of the basic voices switched out for the actors.  Nothing cracked me up more than when Aleister did the threaten emote once and said in the Darth Vader voice... "He will not escape this time!" and "I am your fatherrrrrr *gasp*" every time he said hello.  Then Lucas Corp caught ahold of the distributer and he was summarilly executed, I hear.

I'm also ALWAYS working on my own unique full set that I've been composing myself to help teach me the essentials of soundtrack mood-setting.  so far only 6 songs I'm truly confident about making the final cut are complete, and I'm not sharing them publicly until the whole set is full.  (lets see, 68, 72 more song left? hahah)  The other customized sets, unfortunately I cannot share due to copywrite concerns and respect for the composers in making their living.
