I noted in the price chance thread that spell components will not be lowered in price as it will take some serious scripting to do them all. I was however wondering if the spawn of Fire Beetles could be increased to a random number for every spawn (like the sink and bomby beetles). I just noticed that all the beetle spawns either have no fire beetles or one per spawn, and as alchemists fire can go anywhere from 100-150 gold per bottle on the vendors I wouldn't mind it being a might bit easier to harvest.

heh, this is one of those depends what level you are kinda thing, lower levers tend to sometimes spawn 2 or 3 firebeatles per spawn, but yea, i kinda agree with you here

Yeah, been collecting them bellies since level 1, now level 10 and I've never seen more than two, and haven't seen more than 1 for several levels.

I have to agree there. I've never seen more than one Fire Beetle per spawn area, whereas the stink and bombardier beetles come in varying numbers.
Fire beetles also seem to be the "tougher" ones of the group, based on how hard you have to hit them and how may XPs you get for killing them. Seems like you would see more, not less, as your level goes up.
I'd love to see a random 1-2 fire beetles per spawn, but I understand if the powers that be don't wish to do that.

Yes I have noticed that there is one per spawn in the Sielwood beetle spawns and while I am not one that would use the bellies for crafting but it is strange that they do not spawn more.

Hiya Virg (Heh good to call you Virg again)-
You don't need it now, but currently the Alchemists Fire (The Spell Component for Fire Brand) is priced between 100-150 gold on the vendors, and the beetles spaw so little that you either have to camp, or pay someone else to do it for you. Increasing the spawn by 1 would help dramaticly.

Thanks for the heads up on what Alchemists fire is a spell component for ZV. Hmmm that makes the bellies themselves more valuable as well. I really like Firebrand and well it is fun to cast. Guess I will have to keep gathering skellie knuckles to have the money to buy them, and a bag to keep them in. I have to wonder now how long until I can take eshew materials II.

Eschew is a level 12 feat, that's the earliest you can take it no matter what the spell class.

The problem is not making the Fire (level 8 alchemist here, I can make it no problem), the problem is that it will take 15 trips through Seilwood to make 30 of the Fire. And that will take up quite a chunk of time. If I used the spell regularly I'd probably do it (trust me I'd like to use it regularly aswell) but as it is time is a factor in my schedule and I'd just be easier to get that 12th level and just take Eschew II. However as firebrand is a 5th circle spell and Eschew II is 3 levels away for wizards (2 for Sorcs) I'd like to see this spawn increased by just one per spawn to make it a bit easier to gather. Heck with the prices the merchants are charging and the number of components out there, I think it sounds fair.
