favorite areas in layo?
« on: May 30, 2005, 02:00:00 PM »
my favoite area by far, are the firesteep areas. i love when you arrive there and look down into the vally from the mountians and see the tops of the volcanos. than after some challenges one can with luck make it to the lava vents.  very cool. bring a few tough bashers, a good cleric and a mage if you can find one and have some fun

I actually like Lar...why I don't know why but there's just something about the place.  My favourite dungeon though is the dungeon of the eye 3rd level...again its the atmosphere of the place on the 3rd level...those walls.  I just wish there was a huge dungeon with the same sort of design throughout somewhere :)

In V1 I liked the high forest...large and with an atmosphere all of its own and also the forgotton forest behind the road to Fort Last.  Ice cold and skeletons who could ask for more? :)

Hmm...i would say any area underground. Love dungeons.
Haven mines and the mines in the Battlefens are sweet.

Do we have an underdark here? i know there are towns in the underdark ive read about them, but do we actually have a cave that leads to a large underground area... id love to go explore that.

I really love Lar, too bad I don't go there often. There is something about snow and mountains that brings out the true tranquility...that is we leave the giants and ogres out of the picture...a heck, if we want true tranquility we should leave the dwarves out too. But seriously, Lar, because of its atmosphere is truly my favourite place.

I am also quite fond of the forest, but not all of them...most though :)

To answer the question about the UD....yes Layonara has it. I believe it has over a hundred areas....or so Blackguy told me...I believe it has cities too.

Keeping in mind that I have not seen that much yet, I have to say there are two areas that spring to mind.

One is Port Hamshire.  Just walking in there to the square with all the fountains and the memorial statue and all is great.  The lighting there is cool too.

The other area I like is Arindor's dungeon.  That place is as eerie a place as I have ever been in.

Have not travelled far, but I think that Pranzis is very cool and also stumbled onto the great library which was also very impressive

I love the forests personally, especially those set with a forest canopy sky box such as the high forest...one of the reasons my fav. class to play is a ranger.

My favorite Layo place has to be in V1 on that road east of Hlint, then in that forest.  Think it was called Stag Forest, but that was my favorite place, and now I'm not quite sure yet.

The great rift. The battle music is what get your blood flowing, Knowing that you can't do a darn thing as a magic user in the first two areas then the armies of drow waiting for you in it's depths. Most peaceful spot ever in layonara, that water fall out side of blackford. Many hours sitting there RPing. oh that was the best times ever,

It was called Road of Stags, and yes that was a neat area.  Sadly in a 2 part quest those stags were either destroyed or or forced to leave, and that was before v2 was announced so even if V2 had not come out that area would have been removed.

Lar, by far, just like most everyone else, followed in a close second by the Main Courtyard outside the Great Library, if that place had a few benches, I wouldn't need much else.

Best places to RP... well first I've got the Great Library on my list. The inside and the outside. The entrance was beautifuly designed and is very easy on the eyes (I even like it without the benches, sitting on the ground seems to be a bit more elven to me). Then there was the ever popular Hlint Pond; the old one that was right on the road. Always someone sitting there, great great great. Last we have the old Haven, you guys remember, the one with the portal that would take you to "South Server"? (South Mistone, at the time there were only two servers, North Mistone and South Mistone). I always liked to wander around there, just thought it looked great. All the stands and shops, the Arcanis Librium, really felt like a castle and it's little kingdom there.
As for the best/'worst' if you will, fighting places I'll say... Firesteep. Err... going with Lunchbox and saying the Great Rift is awsome... big big fan of the Underdark, we probably went between three and five areas down (yeah big woop), but from the second we got down there, I sware I fell in love. The stalagtites, and everything is just perfect. Err... then there's an area in some mountains on Xantril, I don't remember the name but there's one way in, and the only way you can go anywhere is by climbing down a rock with a DC of 35 or something... anyway, we got there when it was dark and you couldn't see anything, then just as the sun was coming up we left and you could see it was just like three or four connecting mountains and waaaay down below a large cave opening, really really cool. And again I'm going back to the old versions and saying the old Broken Forest, the way is used to be, when it was scary... boy I hated that place, and looking back on it, I'd love to have it back.

The bowels of the nameless dungeon, with it's tricks and such, I like the big underground man-made dungeon crawl though... but thats a cool area.
