    « on: June 01, 2005, 07:39:00 PM »
I am looking for someone who would know what kind of crafting I could do. I tried gem crafting but am not to good at it.I am a sorcerer.
    My stats are as follows:
    Str:8
    Dex:10
    Con:16
    Int:12
    Wis:10
    Char:18
Thanks in advance for any help.

You are probably best suited for gem crafting and combined with that you could try infusing the gems.
You aren't going to be "great" at either of them to start, but they are probably your best bets. All skills are difficult to start, so just keep at those gems.

I would stick with gem crafting, the first few levels are going to take you forever, but it evens out.

I agree...gem crafting uses Charisma as one of the key stats (Dex is the other).   Might as well take advantage of it, even though progress might be slow at first.

Progress at skills can be very slow or it can be fast, depends how you are rolling. I have one character who excelled at wood crafting, before the creation of sand paper of course. But there would be days where I would gather as much as possible, and Sturgak could gather TONS! But my rolls would just come up sour and I wouldn't get that far. When you look at characters Like Rufus Coldfinger etc, they have spent  A LOT of time at crafting. But don't give up because you will find your niche in the market and eventually, you will be known for your skill in a particular craft.

With 8 in strength, you'll soon find that you can't carry much more than your own gear..
Suggest you find a mining buddy.
And save the gem dust..  some are great for alchemists

I have never considered my abilities when I started a craft, it doesn't make almost any difference. All they do is make your chance 5% better or worse, well maybe 10% if your stats are either very low or very high. So all you have to do is pick a craft you truly enjoy and like and go for it.

I'd say, don't pick a craft based on stats. Pick a craft that would be in character for your character to do. As far as your character is concerned, there are no stats, and it doesn't affect his decision on what to do. :)
