Friends of Hurm Society

*A notice*
The Friends of Hurm Society proudly announce the forming of a second expedition into the Moss Crypts and the lair of the Black Plague.
An expedition will be assembled from those with sufficient knowledge and skill, of one or more of the following: the locality, the beast, and the battles that might be expected within.
The expedition aim is to negotiate with the beast and secure a long term plague free future for Hurm.
A public meeting prior to this adventure might rightly be assembled
Thus far the Society has negotiated with such reputable and proud trading organisations as the Orc Bashers, and the Freelancers Tavern.
It is expected these and other important sponsors will come onboard this important project.
Opinion and support is still craved particularly from those with knowledge and expertise.

*Sallaron frowns as he passes the notice, remembering the outbreak of protest at the Freelancers*
Seem's no matter how many protest....this foolish plan is going to go ahead.
Best be sure it bloody works as planned....or Hurm will take the brunt of it.

*he walks off shaking his head*"Guess we Bashers have a lot to talk about at our meeting "

*A new scroll is hung under the notice*
I would like to let this Society know that it does not have the backing of the Freelancers nor has it negotiated any deal with the Freelancers.
I, Quillwem Laylluanilm, am backing a friend that has agreed to assist this Society. I am acting alone in this matter because I do not wish less experienced adventurers to meddle in the affairs with dragons.

*A unsigned note on plain parchment written in a dark blue ink is tacked up, but no one really recalls seeing who put it there or when it was posted*
Any true "friends" of Hurm should consider just leaving the dragon and his kin alone.

*a fat dwarf posts a note alongside the announcement*
"I heard ye had some tussle with Broegar trying to extend his borders into yer lands, which peaks me interest. As ye may already know, I, Bjonrigar Ironguts, have already placed a price of 100 thousand true on the clanless blackguard's head. Seeing as how none have seemed willing to stand up for their countrymen, and how idjut Katians seem to be speaking for the whole of the free world in granting diplomatic branches to war criminals of the Blood War like Milara and his Demon Legions, I feel urged to step up and interject. Please send me information regarding this Society and its aims at my warehouse in Leillon, care of Bjornigar Enterprises. If I see that our goals coincide, I may be willing to lend a helping hand in yer cause, especially if it involves dead dragons and Broegars.

*A note is placed under the original note*
After a meeting with my guildmembers i like to anounce the following.
The Orc Basher as a guild do NOT support the expedition that now will be set up.
Most of The Bashers will aid in this matter because MY oath inclines ME to help those in need and with a good cause.
I would like to try to get those that will go and help NEGOTIATING with the dragon,to gather and share our thoughts and idears.
Lets try to find a time and place so we can discuss this.

//added to notice.
An important and public meeting will likely be held on Mistone shortly, the society regrets a meeting at Hurm directly would not be possible at this time, it is hoped then that members of the Freelancers, acting individually or as an organisation, will join with those of the Orc Bashers, and the House of Raven, who have expressed a desire to further consider the matter of a worthy and life saving expedition.

Meetings will be held shortly to consider applicants for the position of chief Negotiator on behalf of the Friends of Hurm Society. Applicants should make themselves known by adding their name and credentials here. They will thereafter be contacted.
The Chief negotiator will ultimately be responsible for the disposition and travel plans of this expedition, and lead all negotiations with the Dragon.
Donations for this expedition are now being accepted, please let us know who to contact.

The City of Hurm would like to make it clear they have had no association with the Friends of Hurm, and that they demand the organisation make representation at Hurm immediately.

*Word reaches Sallaron of Hurm's announcement, and he frowns at the Town Crier, seemingly blaming him for it*
I bloody knew it! This aint got a bloody thing to do with Hurm's "well-being" and "peaceful" future. It should be obvious who this Pier Krogel's working for....and I hope we ain't gonna fall for it "again".
* The town crier blinks at him in confusion, and Sallaron wander's off, grumbling to himself*

*added*
Gilbert's Guide to the World has classified Hurm as a Port of considerable intrigue and danger and as such the Society regrets its inability to sanction a meeting at Hurm at this time and further wishes it to be known that all meetings will be held in the Courthouse at Hlint at this time while this situation persists.

*added below original notices*
It is with regret the Friends of Hurm Society announce that thus far no potential chief negotiators have made themselves known to the Society at this time. Candidates should pen their name below this letter.
In the event none are made known, then a selection will be considered on the day of leaving which is fast approaching. Please bring what donations you might consider useful on such an expedition, for there is negotiations must be carried out with a very greedy dragon.
Planning is essential, and two of the Society members will be available this very day at the Courthouse for advice.
The expedition will sail from Fort Valensk in the not to distant future, travel will be free for all expedition members and we will land at Lorindar for onward travel, all at the expense of the Society.

*a further note is added*
At this time only Ozymandias the Bard, and Gard the Dwarf have put themselves forward for consideration as Chief Negotiator, others will be considered if they add their names here. We have decided that last minute applications at the time of leaving may be considered only if their is insufficient application prior to the expedition. The detail of the negotiation perameters will be made known to potential negotiators to allow them time to consider the strategy required.

Dragons are NOT to be 'managed'.
Dragons are NOT subject to flattery and honeyed words.
Dragons will NOT be more inclined towards an offer if it happens to be couched in flowery language.
NO bard's tongue is graceful enough to convince a dragon of something of which it does not wished to be convinced.
I can present the facts, plain and simple, without ambiguity.
These are my qualifications.

* Kobal clears his voice and addresses Gard, but also everyone else who will listen. *
Wit' all due respect, kinsman. 'ave ye ever made dealin's wit' a dragon before? Wha' experience 'ave ye teh come forward loike ye do nauw?
Wha' is most important is dat deh speaker knows all information dat is needed fer dis task. Nay only abou' Hurm, bu' also abou' deh Dragon, deh Alliance between us an' deh Dragons dat was made in deh war agains' Sinthar Bloodstone, deh Black Dragon's loyalty teh Fisterion...
... an' nay teh ferget deh seeds, Selian an' deh odder Sisters as well as deh Cauldron held boi deh Dragon. Details mus' be known an' weighed boi deh speaker or he or she cannae adjust if deh dealin's take a turn dat deh speaker had nay anticipated.
Make sure teh choose someone who is informed. Oi can agree wit' Gard on deh matter of tongues an' doialects. A tongue up deh Dragon's arse is nay goin' teh convince it of anythin'. A sharp an' informed moind is wha' is needed fer dis task.
* Kobal stands back. *

*Ireth listens to Kobal and then glances over at him*
And what do you know of the situation in Hurm Kobal?
The city of Hurm stated it had no association with the Friends of Hurm.
Saviar, the Leader of Hurm has placed a bounty on all members of the Friends of Hurm Society.
That to me makes it pretty clear that regardless of what the Friends of Hurm say....Hurm is NOT for this meeting with the Dragon.
Maybe you should consider actually speaking to someone who has an involvement in Hurm before you go and risk the lives of everyone there on your adventure.
Or maybe the cauldron you have spoken of is worth more to you than the lives of the people in Hurm?
