we will never reach our destination of 10000 heaven.

The decimal system has poetic flaws,
As many a poet will bite on his pen
For counting obeys that most ghastly of laws:
the inevitable showing of sev'n 'fore ten.

Seven, you see, makes a mis'rable rhyme
For in the abundance of words called one's own
That number commits the lyrical crime
Of rhyming with heaven and 'leven alone.

Gentle poet, please heed this advice of mine,
If you wish your poem to escape such a fate,
Keep seven away from the end of your line,
(And oh, by the way, nine-seven-five-eight.)
