PLEASE READ - NEW SITE & NEW FORUMS - PLEASE READ
« on: March 05, 2007, 11:34:34 am »
Hi folks,
The year 2007 is going to be a very interesting and busy year for the various teams. Everybody knows about V3, and the phased rollouts that will continue all year long—and indeed for a few years probably. We have many pretty cool things being worked on, designed, and talked about.
The next thing I want to announce is that on March 11th we are going be moving to a new site and forums. It is going to be the new Layonara site for now and the future as it will help us greatly with our future plans. We are planning many things around this new site. The new site is going to be http://www.layonara.com. On the 11th all people traversing to layonaraonline.com will be redirected to the new address. The site is currently administratively down at this time but will go live on the 11th.
We are going to try and make this as painless as possible for everybody but sadly the passwords are not transferable to the new site. That means that you will need to “request password” at the new site. The site will then email you a password within a minute, and usually within a few seconds. Be sure to check your spam/junkmail filter if you do not find it in your inbox. You do not need to register your username or anything like that at the new site, just request your password to be emailed to you. All of your post counts and all of that will transfer over; we just couldn’t get the passwords to move over. THIS MEANS THAT YOU NEED TO BE 100% SURE THAT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AT THIS CURRENT SITE (LAYONARAONLINE.COM) IS ACCURATE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!! There is nothing else you need to do at this time, just wait for the day that we transfer over to the new site, the 11th.
There are many cool things coming to the Layonara Community this year. This is the second one (with the initial rollout of V3 being the first) and is perhaps the most important as it is setting the foundation for future plans.
Stay tuned for more cool things later this year!

That's three different Layonara forums I've seen so far. Interesting. I hope it feels more like the first one.

@8bit. Yep, this is the third in 5 years. Each one was when the community grew and we needed a better support site for the community in general. This one coming up is the one that will be around for quite some time (probably undergoing various changes) as it will support a growing community.

Will the old posts be available on the new site? I use a few posts as reference material.

*looks up hopefully*  Will we have links between LORE profiles and forum profiles?

@darkstorme, no sorry. And that is a problem and we are likely going to be changing what LORE is used for. Not only can we not do that (what you requested) but it takes you from the core website and that is not something I am comfortable with. But the problem is not that we "can't" do it...but rather that we are so swamped (doing this as a hobby and part-time thing) that we can't wade out of the water to code what needs to be coded. So yeah...Not sure what is going to happen with LORE at this time.

As an addendum to Leanthar's post I wanted to make a note that for about 3 to 6 hours early Sunday Morning Eastern Time, both the old forum and the new forum will be down.  LORE will still be operating but I need to cut off all forum activity to ensure the import process does not miss anything.

So from approximately 1am Eastern to 7am Eastern time Sunday morning, the forums will not be available.

*bump for viewing purposes* Spread the word folks. It is really important that everybody checks that their email address is correct.

I see that this and the other link have not be viewed very much (overly at least). Please pass the word to all you know here, even in game via tells or something. This is important and we want to make this as painless as possible.

This happens VERY SOON!

Good to know. I know it required some software patches. Well, for windows.
