Sin'Dolin and ears for language
« on: April 03, 2006, 05:13:06 am »
When i first created Sin'dolin I didnt know we had to put languages we spoke.
He has a 33 Int and I wonder is he entitled to any ears?

Mere intelligence does not provide for knowledge of languages unless you actively pursue this learning.  With your intelligence I surmise the curve to learn them would be lower but it is not automatic.

It's been a long time since you created your character, how come you've never asked this before?

Perhaps this is something you can incorporate into development and/or CDQ, but I can't just say "Yes you're smart, you should know halfling, drow and dwarven."

Also, ears go off of unmodified int. That would be significantly less at 23.

Very true and something people need to keep in mind.

I thought you weren't allowed to persue language ears via CDQ, I think I might still have the PM stating it accually

I don't think Orth suggested that you could do a CDQ just for learning a language, but that it could a PART of what is accomplished in a CDQ.
