Gnomism repeating crossbow

Currently there are - as far as I know from enquiring IC and OOC - no special crossbows in the drop tables.

On top of this the gnomish repeating crossbow is essentially useless. It costs a lot to craft in terms of ressources and difficulty, but because it has unlimited ammo you cannot use your own special ammo. It also has a level requirement of 19.

I know there arent many players who reguarly uses crossbows, but when I ask why I uniformly get the answer: "because they are all useless/c**p.

The great majority of foes where I migth wish to stand back and use a crossbow at level 19 and beyond have damage reduction etc so the only realistic way for a non-rogue to harm them is via special ammo - which you cannot use with this crossbow.

With the 1.69 patch the "rapid reload feat" was fixed and is now working I therefore suggest that instead of having unlimited ammo (which renders this crossbow useless) the gnomish repeating crossbow grants the rapid reload feat. This will also make sense IC as it will then acutally be a "repeating crossbow" (in the meaning rapid firring which was the only point of repeating crossbows).

It will also give us few crossbow users out there something different and worthwhile to wield.

So old crossbow:
attack bonus +2
+1 dex
unlimited ammo

Suggested crossbow
asttack bonus +2
+1 dex
Rapid reload feat

I believe this will go some way in making this crossbow worthwhile considering the ressources, difficulty in making and level requirements.

Any comments on this?

I would really love for there to be crossbow or two out there worth using as even our dwarf community has given up on crossbows.
