Alignments, Deities, and Paladins
« on: March 05, 2007, 12:32:33 pm »
With the allowance for LE characters, I think it would be nice if one or two of our current Gods could be shifted to LE and an allowance be made for paladins.  Ca'Duz and Corath would be my suggestion. I've always wanted to play a Drow Blackguard :).

Allowance for paladins? I'm not sure I understand.

Language issues. I shouldn't have used the word paladin. I'm hoping for an allowance for Blackguards, but I'd like them to be added as the anti-paladin. In other words, I think they should be only allowed for a few gods. It would make the most sense, in my muddled thought process, to make one or two of the currently aligned gods LE and let LE characters become blackguards for those gods. Better?

Ca'Duz I can sort of see...Corath not so much, He's meant to be CE...NE at best.

Blackguards do not have to be LE.  Whether the NE gods would sponsor blackguards is the real question, though.

True, they don't have to be. But I was driving at a balance issue really. There should be at least one or two LE gods, and those gods would sponsor a paladinesque type force and blackguard would be the easiest way to accomplish it. IMHO.

Are Blackguards a playable class? They aren't even listed on the LORE page: http://nwn.layonara.com/Classes If they are, LORE should be updated.
Edit: Or do the unholy champion essentially replace blackguard?

The description of the abilities of the Unholy Champions closely resembles that of the Blackguard from the NWN rulebook.  Ergo, I'd guess that your latter supposition is correct.

Yes, Unholy Champions do replace Blackguard, but I believe the Champions can only be CE. So we'd need some sort of specific rules and church updates to allow for a LE version of the Toranites. I'd still like to see it happen. :)

I agree that would be pretty cool to have Anti-paladins. Dunno if i'd make one, but it'd still be cool =D

They do.

Not true, Unholy Champions (like Champions) need to be the exact alignment as their deity. At the moment, we only have Corth and Pyrtechon who are both CE, so that's why we require CE. If we were eer to have an Unholy champion of let's say an NE deity, then that UC would need to be NE.

Anti-paladins
if we ever do, they won't be called that :)
