General Discussion / Re: Dice Bag Etiquette
« on: January 10, 2007, 09:02:18 pm »
It comes down to a few things:

• People not knowing when exactly to make a roll (me)

• Each DM being a little different on how they like to use rolls (some don't ming random rolls. They can sort it out quickly, knowing who exactly to look at. I always prefer to have the GM ask, or make sure you emote why you are rolling.)

• And knowing your area of expertise. (ie... let the ranger roll the search check. Let the Bard or high lore roll for ...well, lore checks.)

My ranger has hardly any points in Lore, so I let others roll for it. Unless the GM specifically asks for EVERYONE or me personally to roll a check. It kinda bums me when a GM asks for a spot check, and my high spotting ranger rolls bad, just to be out rolled by the blind Giant wearing a welding mask. No consequences for failing.

General Discussion / Re: Server crashed

Sounds pretty good Weeblie. Except make it a world leader who does the shout if they see a server message. I have missed the gray text before also. I have never been hurt by it though. OR just  send a tell to someone about the server message, then that person sends a tell. Like a chain letter, "resend this or you will wake up from a dream in the middle of a large group of trolls".

General Discussion / Re: EVERYONE DISCUSS!
« on: December 11, 2006, 09:05:34 pm »
Vyris-The reason that these things keep coming back is because despite everything that I said in the LAST paragraph, theres always a few people who get bent out of shape about whatever the GM team deems to be the BEST way to deal with whatever situation they get peeved about. After a while it just gets to be old hat to see someone who is getting banned come back for one last manifesto, or to see that "What I hate about how Drow are on Layonara" post, etc.

  Ok...now I will say something.

  Drow are mean, Vy!!!!!

  said my piece.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Re: Idea for out of bounds places

Hey...when snow skiing there are no second chances when going out of bounds on cliffs.

Sorry, just brought back bad memories of a young know it all (me) thinking out of bounds signs are for the week(on mountains) :)

General Discussion / Re: How does the Layonara volunteer staff treat you?
« on: December 11, 2006, 07:39:14 pm »
Absolutely the best.

I hope that is because I treat them the best I can. I have had issues. I mention it to a GM or Leanther and every time I get a respectful response. I can not count the number of times I see someone post a suggestion that was respectful and see the same respectfulness posted back by the team. The idea might not make it but a lot do. If the idea does not  make it there is always a reason posted.

Some people are just rude. Here, at work, on the road, in the grocery store...anywhere. Sometimes we get caught up in that. When that has happened to me a GM always listens to me and calms me and helps me enjoy this world.

Thanks to Leanther, the entire GM team, the writing team, the techies, the character approvers, the disputes team, the movie makers, and the community!

I partially agree with Lilswanwillow and Polak76. Remove disputes over soulstrands. But keep the disputes over items and exp the same or even with more need of evidence. That would cut the time fixing disputes for the GM's. It might upset people at first but it would soon be accepted practice.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Re: DM quest limits
« on: December 05, 2006, 08:07:17 pm »
Acacea-But wait! That person has been all over the world, gone back in time, fought Blood, recovered artifacts, been a spy, become a vampire, taken over a legacy, defeated the lich, been transformed into an orc, foiled the soul mother, helped a merking, saw a goddess, saved a port, redeemed a fallen paladin, realigned the planes, used their skills in combat and mental battles and has gotten a lot of XP for it! Clearly they should be level ten like my character because questing is a really silly way to level!
I surely do not wish people shouldn't be able to join quests. But I am jealous that they have done all those things to help shape the world. I am jealous that I have been here for over two years and active for at least 80% of that time and not been on one world changing quest. It gets frustrating at times and you might get tired of it but people need to vent a little. The author of this post brought up points in a friendly way. We love this server and want to be more involved but find it hard to be. The DM team is top notch and when I read something about a awesome quest I get excited and try to join quests. I might get to sign up for a couple and am even more lucky to be able to attend. Not the DM's fault, not Leanther's fault, not my fault. It just happens that way.
I understand that you are sick of seeing posts like this, just look at as someone who is a tad upset that he/she isn't lucky enough to get to be involved. Being sarcastic doesn't help much at all.

We do need to remember that on very regular occasions the Layonara team announces something new, something cool, and new ways to help us get involved.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Re: poisonmaking question
« on: December 03, 2006, 07:14:50 pm »
I always thought that some think it is not moral to use poisons. It is illegal to put poison in someones tea to kill them but is it illegal to use poisons as antidotes?

Lord of the Forest - 12/1/2006  6:09 PM  Memory access if for the blood thingie. 0 = deactivated, 1= activated, 2= special. As far as I know if Memory level = 2 there should be more blood, never tried it though.

It this is correct then you can also set that in game also. I think it is called violence level. On, off, or special.

Man, I hope the sever doesn't lag when I log on. Don't want to be stoned by the community. I know I will refrain from logging in at all.

General Discussion / Re: Turkey Day
« on: November 23, 2006, 02:05:42 pm »
oddest thing...

I was playing my character, Cole, earlier and all was well. I stop, log off, and eat a huge and fantastic Thanksgiving dinner. I log on again and Cole will not get up of the sofa in his room. He has his belt of cunning unbuckled and his boots of the tiger on the floor. I look for an answer and no luck. Not encumbered, not cursed. I zoom in on his face and see mashed potatoes, gravy, some bits of stuffing, and a smidge of cranberry on his face.

I think I have my answer

General Discussion / Re: Visual Effect on Gloves
« on: November 11, 2006, 01:03:18 pm »
Well, I just think that those effects should be harder to have. More special. I really have no problems with the way things are now, I'd just like it a tad better if effects were not so...everywhere.

My iron weapon has fire effect. Could mean the the blade heats up but not catches on fire. In a perfect world (fantasy world) each level of elemental damage would look different, depending on the attributes.

I do like the effects. But wish they were only on unique weapons. With that in mind a unique pair of gloves that might add something magical or effect would be cool.

General Discussion / Re: your thoughts on this one
« on: November 09, 2006, 05:05:06 pm »
Maybe this person is a tad shy. I was when I first came here. But I soon learned that shyness would fade quickly. All it takes is one moment...and your in something fun. Heck, when I want some alone time...thats what difficult. There are so many people here who love to rp and show off this world, it is difficult to stay away. Someone will get to this new player, I have no doubt.
