NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Player Built Towns
« on: June 21, 2006, 11:48:22 pm »
This idea struck me as kind of unusual at first, but after a little thought along the matter, it is something I have never seen any other servers do. It would be something unique to Layonara, atleast in my experiences in Layonara. The possibilities are pretty endless, and the amount of scripting involved is as complicated as a group of player housings. Several crafters could set up their own shops, along with an Inn, and so on.
  I like the idea.

General Discussion / Welcome back 8bit!
« on: June 20, 2006, 04:24:10 pm »
Hey,
I'm back. I got all that junk out of the way quicker than I thought. I'll be working extra hours at the tear-gas and onion mine this month, as I'm building a recording studio in my basement.
Not that I was gone, but you know. Shaddap.
Granted I'm having update issues, and there's a thunderstorm brewing outside, so the parade in my honor might have to wait a day..
Oh, by the way, a certain person made a note that talking in colors is stupid, makes me annoying, and is only done by someone trying to compensate for a short coming, so here goes! Super neon-green that is so cool I can't even read what I'm typing until after it's submitted. Oorah!

I hate my attention span. I'll be around a lot less lately, as NWN just doesn't keep my attention anymore.

Hey,
A DM's assistance would be required for this. I've tried every trick in the book to get off this ledge, aside from jumping. :) Is a DM free to give me a nudge?

Just for Fun / Clove Cigarettes, and pepper.
« on: May 13, 2006, 08:20:01 am »
Cracked, black pepper.
This isn't what your average clove cigarette should taste like, yet here I am carving off minutes of my life (or perhaps hours, not sure how cloves work for that...) and it tastes like the smell of cracked black pepper.
  I am confused.

Trade and Market Hall / Boots for Sale
« on: May 09, 2006, 05:19:22 pm »
Ahoy,
I don't much like the style of these boots, they're a might too big. They're called something about Ascender's March, or whatever.I'm asking 18,000 jinx or the best offer after that. I'll be checking this tomorrow, and sell it to the highest offer. They do something with giants, or something like that. I'm no dazzling mage.
  -Key.

// +3 Dodge AC vs Elementals and Giants, +2 Vs Goblins. level 14 requirement. They're yellow. Ew.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Grappling Hooks
« on: May 03, 2006, 07:54:49 am »
Hey,
This just came to me while watching someone try to get up a climb check. Is it possible to make an item that you can use for a touch attack, or something, on a climb check to be given the chance to get up a climb at a set DC? 10 seems pretty reasonable. Climbing a rope is just one step above a mundane action to anyone physically fit, in my opinion, as most adventuers are. It would give an alternative to people who carry a lot of things, are not very strong, or do not have the ability to fly or polymorph into something super-strong to get up a climb check.
As a balancing factor, outside of the need for a touch attack and the climb check itself, I believe it would need either charges or a bit of weight added. Maybe 5.5 pounds, as it needs to be a heavy hook to be strong and latch onto things. Thanks. :)

Roleplaying / Use Magic Device while on DM Quests
« on: April 30, 2006, 08:25:55 am »
I can say from personal experience that I have rolled -every- single possible check I have, even Gather Information and Parry, on a DM quest except for Use Magic Device. Because of this I was wondering what the extent of the ability is? Can a Rogue swap a UMD roll for Spellcraft?
It's kind of open-ended, butI would like to make use of those ranks I keep pouring into it.

If anyone has any old pictures of Matilda Landsend, espically in Beta 4 or just after v2 started, will have my ultimate thanks and joy if they could post them. Kudos, and much thanks, to someone who can find her in her old black armor with the glowy red sword.

NWN Ideas, Suggestions, Requests / Cleric Spell - Poison
« on: March 05, 2006, 05:24:58 pm »
Hi guys,

I just noticed that this spell is kind of off, really. It should have a DC of 20 for Aschenbach (10 base + 4 from Wisdom + 4 from Spell level + 2 from Spell Focus Necromancy), yet it has a DC 18 Fortitude save. I just tested it outside of Layonara and it has the same DC as well. Is there any way to have it updated? Not that it's a big deal of course, but I feel that the spell really could reflect well on some of us less "upright" Clerics of the Gods who really would see that as using our given powers to the fullest. Plus, hey - It's one less Cleric running around with 40 preparations of Divine Power, right? :D Thank you for any consideration.

Trade and Market Hall / A box of eggs.
« on: March 04, 2006, 06:57:29 am »
I, that's Aschenbach, have decided that scribing is best left for the scribes. I got a box full of fresh eggs I won't be using. Find me around the Madhouse. 3500 coin or the best offer.

Blessings of the Good Lord upon you,

Aschenbach.

Wild Surge Inn / The Contest of Arms
« on: March 02, 2006, 01:32:04 pm »
You've noticed throughout the week that these posters have been appearing at almost random throughout Hlint. It your travels about Mistone you're noticing more and more, almost as though they're blossoming from the very inns and merchant halls in which they're placed. It' written in a professional print which were made by a very skillful scribe.      "The CONTEST OF ARMS"

Warriors from all around, you are officially invited to test your mettle against others of your kind and skill in Mistone's first Contest of Arms! Hosted by Key and company at the Fort Velensk Arena, you will be put up against your equals until only one is able to rise above and claim the title as the greatest warrior of Mistone. Who will it be? Are you prepared for such a challenge?  If the honor of knowing you're the best is not enough, each winner of the four divisions will be given three fourths of the entry fees for his division! Even if you're a warrior come and watch the display of skill on the third wednesday of this month, starting at the eighth hour past noon.    Rules, Practices, and Entry

Entry: To enter is simple! Just provide Key with your name, profession, and depth of your ability with your entry fee. You will then be paired with an equal match to begin with, and the winners of each of the beginning matches will then be paired against the most equal of the winners until only one remains in the standings!   Rules and Practices:
The fight begins only when the overseer annouces it, not before. In the case of a spellcaster you must wait until the fight begins to start casting.
Any combatant may end the fight they are currently in for fear of harm, or any other reason. However, this counts as a loss on their part and they are removed from the standings.
Fights are to be kept only within the arena, any assaults outside of a sanctioned fight will result in immediate removal. You will not be refunded your entry fee.
There is only one winner for each division, and all of the winnings go to them. There is no second place when it comes to champions.
Divisions:
The warriors of the land! With years of experience behind them this shall be the gathering of the masters. The entry fee for Division A is 17,500 gold. (levels 17-20 only need apply.)
The next generation of masters! Nearing in skill to the best, these are the soon-to-be masters of their styles and professions. The entry fee for Divison B is 10,000 gold. (levels 13-16 need only apply.)
The professionals! Passing the time when they were but amatures these warriors are moving up in their skill. One day they may yet be the best. The entry fee for Division C is 5,000 gold. (levels 9-12 need only apply.)
The newst flock of warriors! These careful few are beginning their journeys as warriors, and what a better way to start it off than a test of their skill? The entry fee for Divison C is 2,500 gold. (levels 5-8 need only apply.)
Winnings and rewards: Each winner of the respective divisions shall recieve seventy five percent of the entry fees for said division. This reward shall be in gold only, and the winners are free to do whatever they wish with it.   With that said, we are very excited for this. Even if you do not wish to fight, you may still witness the battles for a small ticket price of one hundred gold.

Development Journals and Discussion / Prayers of the Faithful.
« on: February 27, 2006, 06:14:11 am »
All is silent in the Castle Blackford. The activities of the day have quieted as night falls. Upon the hills just outside of the great Castle's walls a young woman sits in peaceful serenity holding her holy symbol. As she looks up to the sky, her eyes quickly find the Circle of Eight. It is there that they remain as she begins a very personal ritual. She prays silently, knowing that if Lucindia is to listen, she shall hear every word.

"I am praying to you now, Lady of Magic, Mother of the Weave, not for guidance, but to affirm my faith. My history is not kept in the darkness, and may my choice and the kindness and acceptance of You and Your followers allow others such as myself to gain their freedom from the darkest of tyranny. In my short time under Your watchful eyes I have been shown wonders which I have never thought possible. I've met people so kind, and so pure that I can only strive to be such as they are. I have become who I was ment to be, but I have only begun my path. There is still so much for me to learn, and see; feel and understand. But the undying love I feel to You, as the child loves the Mother, shall never be shattered. I will strive in all things to be as the Vaireletk, and live by his example. I swear to you now that I shall never break this bond. My heart shall never wander, and my spirit shall never fall to taint. I am Your's, in mind, body, and spirit, and shall know no other as I know You.

I have become a Protector of the Weave, and I am Your's. I came upon this path however in a most unusual way. It was first the man, Remiel of Toran, who showed me such kindness even as I was one of the Mad God's flock. His example awakened something within me, that which to this day I do not understand. He showed me that despite who I was, there was hope for me yet. It is because of his example that I sought to be your Paladin.

I wish to thank You, from the depths of my very spirit, for all that You have provided for me. A home, a family, and another life to begin anew. I shall watch over the Weave as the best I am able, and use what I have learned in my life to seek out those who would abuse Your Gifts. You are my Sword and Shield, My Lady, and I am your faithful servent."

As she finishes the prayer she seems to remain upon the hill for some time. It is rare for such a moment of solace to be found in her life, and she seems to wish to enjoy every moment of it.

Well, I suppose it's about time I come back and bother you all for a while. Atleast until NWN gets boring again. I hope all of Asch's friends are still around. But, if not I'll make new ones like all of the other times. :)

I'm very excited to see how the world has changed. Layonara has always been a step above the rest, and despite it's very limited problems, it will always be my home away from home. Atleast, on the interweb that is.

How's everyone doing?

General Discussion / Another Wonderful Break
« on: September 28, 2005, 11:17:00 pm »
Hey all,

I've had my most recently Layonara fix and I've decided that while I do enjoy myself here some of the time I spend playing, I feel that the other server I play on has a more consistant quality of gameplay and just a community that is more personal and engaging for me. With my new job I don't have the time to spend leveling a character here, so I will just stick with what I have on the other land I visit.

It was fun. I've met some great people here, but the community as a whole is just not for me. It has a very strange feel, as if we're all working in an office. It's hard to really put how I feel, but I will be back eventually, just like all the other times.

So peace out. Have fun. Try and get some sunlight between the quests. :)

Development Journals and Discussion / Sympathy for the Devil
« on: September 19, 2005, 05:54:00 pm »
Karthy. A place where everyone and everything eventually passes through. It's a pristine city, with clean streets and bright faces. The Temple of Toran and the Citadel of Rofirein loom over the city, protecting it from the evils within and outside of it's walls. Yet, below the set of ever-watchful eyes lies a dark creeping creature. No one knows it's true name, nor would they ask if confronted. It just exists, yet it is not spoken of. It may be seen, but ignored. And of all the beings to look this creature in the eyes, it was Aschenbach Snailpace, a young Halfling not quite of this world.

[big]Sympathy for the Devil[/big]

"Where's our money, peck!", a steel-toed boot feel upon his face, knocking out a tooth with a chilling crack. "What're you doing wit' it!", another kick. Another horrible crack. Blood was beginning to pour over his lips. Then all he saw was nothing. Certain he was to die soon, he fell limp, and his sight left him.

The Wraith Spiders in the Dire Wood are the NWN basics. They do not drop the CNR corpse, and can't be used for Poison Crafting. Thanks!

General Discussion / The Underground
« on: September 11, 2005, 01:41:00 pm »
Hi Peoples.

I've posted about this before but because of a lack of funds, and interest from other players, I've decided to put it on hold for now. But Key is in the works of making her Thieves' Guild dream come to be. If you are interested, at all, post your interest here. Most classes are welcome, however the restrictions are as follows...

Diety - Toran, Deliar (Alignment depending), Dorand, Prunilla, Rofirein, Toran.
Alignments - Lawful Good. Neutral Good and Lawful Neutral will need to show why their character would fit with a group of cutthroats.
Class - Paladin, any of the Divine Champions, and Clerics of the above Gods.

I'll set up the RP for it. It will be on a, "don't call us, we'll call you" basis. ;)
