This may mean that Charlie is corrupted. I did attempt a restore from the backup, but the backup could also have been corrupted.

Removing him from the vault and bringing the server back up. Give me 10...

I have not tried to log in since the crash.  If there is someone who can assist at some point today to check my character as listed in the previous post, please let me know when.  Thanks.

I can pretty much guarantee your character (Rebecca) is gone. Your other characters should be fine and you're welcome to log in and check them out. For reasons of server stability, I cleared out the character files known to be corrupted last night. You'll have to take Rebecca through the grievance process to get her rebuilt and restored to some semblance of her original form, which you have already started.

// North Point is not within the Liwich kingdom and was not part of the initial description. If Vrebel wants to go to North Point, that's fine, but he won't find any heralds there.

// Thanks for the responses, folks, but the devil is in the details. IF you are going to Liwich somewhere, it's important to tell us where in Liwich and how you traveled there. We don't want to make any assumptions, and there are, in fact, different circumstances depending on where you go.

Is it maybe that only the core info updates, though, and everything else is imported? Acacea's stuff like gold and last death and level and all that is current, for example, but everything else is pre-returning - still has Greater Ruin, she doesn't usually wear boots and I traded the ones she permed in when coming back, stats are wrong, and so on. Neema and Toby don't have an equipment section at all. Not sure...

It's possible. I don't know the state of the character file data import process. That part was never in my sandbox.

Also, would Admin Info be for forum administrators, not profile administrators? Just checking, hehe

Also possible. I'd say if you don't see that tab, then probably: yes. It might be available to GMs too, not just admins.

Ask A Gamemaster / This information is still
« on: July 31, 2016, 03:18:17 pm »

This information is still available. What you have to do though is go into your account by clicking "My Account" up at the top-right of every page on the site and set up your NWN profile. Part of that is claiming your characters and entering your CD Key(s). Doing that, you can then see a whole lot of information on your character, including crafting levels, skills, feats, equipped items and so on...including the number of Graceful Pleas used (on the Admin Info tab).

Until then, Rodlin has used 1 Graceful Plea.

Thanks for the IC/OOC explanation on the dragons as that was  always a weird one for me as a player.  But, if your still going to let us have a go at dragons without consequences (as long as we don't broadcast it IC or proclaim ourselves dragonslayers IC ) it would be nice if they were a bit tuffer mechanically.  Suggesting maybe tweak their stats a bit or maybe their minions to adjust to the level of play we have now.

It's already underway. *grins*

The fact is, they were balanced 10+ years ago when the expectations of high-epic-level characters would be very rare (because we had a prohibition on going past level 20 without an ECDQ/WLDQ), so the intent was parties of high but sub-epic levels (generally speaking) for the occasional challenge during the Bloodstone age. During that time, their want of leaving their lairs to seek retribution on uppity adventurers was pretty low because of the threat that Bloodstone presented. Fast forward...the world has moved on in IC and OOC ways, but dragons were never made more appropriate for the new landscape. As Acacea noted, the real strength and power of dragons cannot be really well-represented mechanically, but we can certainly make them a lot more of a challenge.

Besides, it's not really fair to make judgments on the ease of killing a flat-footed, AI-Disabled and controlled creature while its GM was still typing a response to you. *winks*

After causing much panic, a gnomish bank clerk with an impish grin is quite literally tossed out on his head by the bank's manager.  As the manager goes back inside, he yells at his assistant, "Next time bloody well make sure they ain't Shadonites!"

After composing himself, he does his best to reassure his customers that this whole business was just a childish hoax.

Fixed Bugs / That's what my next question
« on: July 26, 2016, 09:38:19 pm »

That's what my next question was going to be what leaving them in a "safe place" means, exactly.

Right now, the database does not show either character's ox as tied down. The only way to keep it from appearing next to your character after login is to tie it down.  Leaving it inside a building or other "safe" location without tying it down doesn't mean it will stay there.

Anyway, please confirm, and we'll move forward from there.

« on: July 14, 2016, 10:33:34 pm »

*points up* What she said.

A "role call" list has its uses, but it is also exclusive of people who may have been around somewhat recently, but aren't around now.

Anyway...

There are 11 houses available for purchase, but yes, all of them are on Dregar.

Server-wide, there are 70 houses owned by characters who have not signed in since July 1, 2015. A few of these are guild halls, a few of these are "historic" but the bulk of them are likely candidates for being returned to the market. Of these 70 houses, 45 of them are on Mistone/Alindor.

I'll try and draw up a list over the weekend, though I have kind of a full schedule. I may start with people who have not been seen in two years or more, which would free up to 30 houses on Mistone/Alindor alone.

Haha! This is pretty funny!

I checked into both the database and the character file. Both of them show your character as being named "Annie Firefly", so it would seem that the two most important parts of this equation show the character's name correctly. If you are seeing "Annette Firefly" in-game, what I can guess is that the server got confused with all your skin-swapping and is holding onto the wrong name somehow.

The good news is that means it will probably be cleared when the server is reset next time. Right now, there's nothing else I can try to "fix" besides that.

I'll try and get the reset done sometime soon. Let me know if this persists past that point.

Fixed Bugs / I think part of this is that
« on: June 21, 2016, 10:01:19 am »

I think part of this is that some of the spells currently in the Ranger spell list are not, in fact, Ranger spells in default NWN mechanics. Some time ago, we integrated part of a "pseudo-3.5" ruleset that, among other things, bumped rangers a bit including giving them additional spells beyond the normal NWN default spells. Barkskin, for example, is not a standard Ranger spell, and neither is Bull's Strength.

Beyond that, there does seem to be an issue specifically related to Cat's Grace scrolls and Rangers. I see that there is a community (i.e. non-Bioware) patch which allegedly corrects this, though I do not know if it is compatible with our linux server. That's something orth will have to check into.

This isn't a rule anymore.  You can go all the way to 40, but you'd have to go through WLDQ rules/requirements if you wanted to go WL at some point, no earlier than level 21.

Slight correction to this...

One can take a WLDQ starting at level 20 and use it to crest the somewhat significant jump in XP needed to go from level 20 to level 21 (something like 3million, iirc). If you pass the WLDQ while still 20th level, you get an automatic bump to level 21.

@silverblades, could you post a link to where you found this rule still in existance? It clearly got missed when we revised this rule (quite a long time ago), so we'd like to clean it up to avoid this sort of confusion in the future.

Ask A Gamemaster / Hi there, and welcome
« on: March 21, 2016, 09:39:21 pm »

Hi there, and welcome  back.

Generally, everything Acacea said is accurate. If you can get all that sorted out and remember your old Bioware username, you should be all set to get back with your old character(s).

If you can not remember or find your old Bioware username, I'm afraid the options are limited. I can certainly look it up based on a character name, but I would need some other verification that you are who you say you are to release that to you.

We can handle any details you want to keep out of the public eye via forum PM.

If Row cannot get to you, I should have some availability this evening (Saturday) or Sunday at varying parts of the day. Do either of these work?
