Not enough interest. Was worth a try!

Sounds reasonable. Just wanted to make sure there weren't already IC events that would automatically disallow it.

I have had some feedback about making the group share a common origin or purpose. I am certainly in favor of this idea but would like to wait to define it until 1) there's enough positive interest, and 2) we find a sponsor to play the behind-the-scenes puppeteer.

If there are WLs out there that think they might be interested in playing the patron of this group, PM me.

CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Re: Failing a Craft Roll
« on: March 17, 2012, 07:28:10 am »
Getting half of the xp seems a bit exploitable, doesn't it? Attempt some high failure chance item (rhubarb pie) without any chance of success, get a ton of xp, grind on failures.

Perhaps a weighted formula?

Failure XP = Full XP X 0.5 X % chance

100xp pie X 0.5 X 10% = 5xp

Are new recipes still possible? I recall hearing that the number of items is limited. If so, I could dust off the toolset and give it a try again.

Pie bake sale fund raiser? Get others to donate pies or ingredients.

Or perhaps a picnic basket silent auction (like in musical Oklahoma). The winner of the bidding gets to go on a picnic with the basket maker.

Get fire opal dust for continual flame spell so her food chests don't need constant refreshing with light spell.

Chatting w/ mixafix in-game...

Perhaps Honeybee can get give out treasure maps to find things for her. Her father, Bumblebee, always was interested in the history of Brownies.

Also suggested was putting a quest chest w/ a body inside that needed to be brought back for healing.

Honeybee, with tremendous will power, leaves a rhubarb pie. Even wrapped well in waxed parchment, the fresh sweet smell lingers in the room. On the way out, she lingers at the chest filled with boots, eying the healing slippers.

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Turn elementals with earth domain
« on: March 02, 2012, 12:23:00 pm »
I see, so for Honeybee at 8th level she probably failed the "turn level" criteria for huge earth elementals (16 hit dice?). The range would be 4 to 12 that she could have a chance of turning.

Thanks!

Nice perk!

74
Honeybee, carrying a (for her) large armful of freshly cut rhubarb, is caught off-guard by the full squad of armored personnel. She finds an unobtrusive corner just outside the kitchen's doors after dumping nature's bounty unceremoniously on a bottom shelf.

Rumour Has It / Re: Prunilla's Bountiful Harvest

Small notes, adorned with a clover, are pasted within the interior of the chests in towns such as Center and Krandor.

Free to those in need
Donations welcome from those that can

In addition to bread, rice, and smoked salmon most often found, simple rhubarb turnovers begin appearing wrapped in parchment for convenience on the road. Each of the turnovers is dusted with crystalized sugar and the small holes poked to release steam during baking form a clover pattern. They are, in a word, delicious!

Honeybee, checking on her donation chests in Center, is startled to find a note. Giggling a bit, she reads it aloud to the town crier.

"It says it's a recipe for honey smoked salmon, a favorite of the Red Light goblin's chief, if you can believe that. Take two portions of honey smoked salmon and place them on a bed of wheat bread. Add three clover leaves and serve with a single portion of rice cake."

Privately Honeybee hopes that the town crier will find this interesting enough to stop reciting elvish poems and repeating himself.

Revisited this. Devastatingly useless! Low enough DC to confuse only yourself.

78
Is ECL ignored when calculating quest XP? My 7th level brownie (ECL 2) gets 3000xp / quest hour. This works out to be 26.6 quest hours. The comment of "lower-level characters can actually gain a level with fewer than 25 quest hours" applies just to 6th and below?

(Sorry for tangent question! I hope that ECL is not a consideration when calculating RP XP.)

Seems we are on the same page with the time issue. I agree completely (don't fall out of your chair LOL) It has to be long enough to be felt and to help stop it from being used as an exploit (the hard core player). Yet not long enough to further discourage someone (the casual player).

Why wouldn't it cover an emergency though? If they use the item to port out because of an emergency they will have 6 hours before that character can play. If were truly an emergency 6 hours is nothing to worry about.

.

I think you meant player, not character. It's the player that has the emergency.

I like the idea, though I would probably abuse it. There are times when a group heads off and I know I'm not going to be able to do the entire trip uninterrupted. I'd jump into the fray and play as long as I could, then bail out. This would increase the chances of playing with groups but may not be what the team wants to see in the world.
