General Discussion / Aeridinite Healer in the Vale has gone walkies
« on: January 16, 2007, 03:25:40 am »
Apparently the Aeridinite Healer in the Vale has gone wakies to the entrance of Sielwood where the badgers are. Some of the local Aeridinites that make a visit there may find that the Healer is not present.

Perhaps a DM can take him back to his respective location?

Excellent DM quest. Although slightly confusing at the beginning because it was split between two teams and a lot of conversation, the trip to the tower was fun. I hereby declare that any volunteer to be leader...to do so at your peril. :)

Oh and by the way, there was some excellent RP by Narubulat the orc. Was Rose one of the few people that found his stench and constant flatulence annoying ? He did that two times. As a player I was laughing myself silly.

General Discussion / Changing my portrait
« on: November 17, 2006, 05:22:17 pm »
I would like to change my portrait for my character Eghaas treebringer. I have changed the ig description that I am happy with, but I am getting a bit tired of people still looking at my character, and the portrait and instantly knowing i am an elf. Would the team still allow a portrait change if I provide them with one?

I have arrived in Hlint upon Dread Priestess Chanda's request to aid my teacher Sipher. I have not had been in touch with him for months since I last saw him in Arabel and having received a message from the Dread Priestess to imply that he is alive suggests to me that we shall have hope yet of bringing Darkness toMistone under the glory of Corath. I have to say that Hlint is a bustling city. Many folk live here, but the dark taint of his presence has not made an impressionable mark here yet...

I managed to find my teacher in the east side of Hlint talking to a woman of sorts. She referred to herself as a Dark Mistress, and I found my teacher amused at such a term. I found the idea absurd.Sipher was unlike himself, unlike the last I saw him in Arabel. He seemed broken and unlike any other did not seem to recognise me. In time, I am sure that he will and that I shall serve him to carry outCorath's doing to the best of my ability.

He had made plans to seek blood for the Dark Lord so we came to the mercenaries encampment to claim our sacrifice and gold. I met with two of Sipher's so called acquaintances, one Alandric Vensk and Revonne Star, to which I learnt are one of us. I first suspected Alandric by his incesssant questioning of my background but when he rest assured me that we may share common ground, I told him. He smiled gleefully. It is obvious that I have found some of the taint of Corath in Mistone, and in time I hope to be one that helps expand it in this realm.

General Discussion / Eschew feat
« on: November 13, 2006, 12:40:35 pm »
I have heard quite a few things about this feat. I would like to clarify a few things about it. So from my understanding, after my sorcerer can cast 3rd level spells it means that he is eligible for this feat. Thereafter, he gets to have the choice of another eschew feat etc every 3 or is 4 levals? So the first Eschew is at 4, then at 8 lvl, then at 12 lvl, 16lvl etc?

What happens if he doesn't choose this feat when it is first madely available...does that mean that he doesn't get that option to choose Eschew at 8 lvl or any other consecutive level? My sorcerer did not the Eschew option at the beginning, so I would like him to choose it at lvl 12. Currently he is level 11.

Thank you.

General Discussion / Mixafix's Dark Times of Change
« on: November 08, 2006, 01:11:29 pm »
I have to say that this quest was another fun event. Thanks Mixafix.
http://www.layonaraonline.com/forums/calendar/event-view.asp?eventid=2501&year=2006&month=11

There was some excellent RP, with some bashing and a few surprises. I loved every minute of it. Kudos to those characters that played along with the RP, our leader was top notch...really. :)

I had a kick out of Hawklen's antics.

And feedback and some commentaryy at the end  was good too.

Roleplaying / how to RP a Barbarian
« on: November 05, 2006, 07:57:52 pm »
I am thinking about posting a character submission that is a Barbarian, but I am curious as to what the comunity thinks about how the Barbarian speaks and some of the mannerisms.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

General Discussion / Sorcerers and the levels of spell that they can cast
« on: November 05, 2006, 02:05:08 pm »
I have a sorcerer whose charisma is 17, which means that he can cast up to 7th level spells when the time comes.

However I have given him two eagle splendour rings that have a +1 bonus to them. Does that mean that he cast 9th level spells providing that he has these rings equipped? Thanking you in advance.

*Rose is seated in the Wild Surge. She scampers up to one of the chairs and leans over to look at the menu. She struggles to seat herself properly on the chair and then yells out to Doria* "Doesn't your inn cater for halflings?! Give me something I can sit on....*she pauses for a second* Please." *Once Rose gets a chair she can sit on easily, she nimbly pops on it and opens her pack and pulls out a leather book. She quickly orders a meal from Yard, and while she waits for her meal she opens the book nimbly and begins to write.*

Well I am finally here. Mistone, Hlint. The trip on the boat was uneventful, I almost threw up a couple of times. Thankfully I managed to contain myself. It took some time for me to get to Leilon. Seas were rough. Leilon is a wonderful place. Teeming with people, and shops aplenty, there is no short supply of opportunity. *she snickers* Foscar would have found this to be a gold mine. Perfect for the Living Horsemen. *she pauses in nostolgia and at one stage it seemed that a single tear drops from her face but she quickly rubs her eyes and continues to write* Anyway...I made my way to Hlint. The place where all adventures seem to stem from, so the rumours go. I heard that there was a lot of coin there.

There was a few things that I needed to do. Some cosmetic things. A cloak, and purchase of some weapons. I managed to keep my dagger and short sword. My two preferred weapons for melee combat. I went to see that ranged weapon dealer, I forgot his name. I chose to standardise on the crossbow. I think eventually one day, I want to make one of those. So there I was in Hlint. Wandering around wanting to know where everything was I came across the Quartermaster. The Quartermaster wanted 5 ears from a local goblin encampment in the outskirts of Hlint.

So while I was looking around I saw this man covered in head to toe....in armour. His name Shamino. He looked like an idiot. How is he expected to walk and run? So I coined him Mister. Metal Man. A fitting name if you ask me. I asked him where he was going, and he was going nowhere in particular, so I asked him whether he would be able to help me in obtaining th earss which I thought would be a simple task. That would not be the case.

Before I get into that, I would like to describe some of the other people that I met there. Shortly after a elf by the name of
Vihktor Raylin came parading himself into Hlint roadside. He is not those common elves, instead of having the usual long hair tied into braids they usually, no.  this young elf had a spike for his haircut would you believe it. He had been affectionately known as the Rat because of the hair style.  I gave him the affectionate name of Ratman. I thought it was very fitting..Hmmph.

There were two more characters that I met up with. Nobelion and Januk. Nobelion is one of those fighters that is like one of those gentle quiet types. Apparently he served in Velensk as a Guardsman, serving Rolferein. Very apologetic man, but  effective in battle.  I think he got us out of a few sticky situations.

Januk, there is another one of those annoying types. Such a fool. I had a vice against smoking pipe so I told him in my own way that I don't appreciate it. Back home, the guys would have told me to "Pike off!" but what did this guy do? Kindly obliged and took off next to the wall, and a puff there. Charming!

So these are the characters that I met up with. Getting back to the adventure. When I had asked Shamino to accompanied us, where did he take us? Out of all places, the Red Goblin Caves. Out of all places he had to take us there! Oh well, goblin caves and goblin ears, they are might as well the same. And I can't complain, he did save my life and Ronus did give me  a wonderful pair of boots with excellent reward in gold. Can't complain.

We also visited the Crypts in Hlint, my its a scary place. With skeletons and ghouls, it was a nasty sight indeed. I have to say that despite my grumbling with being dragged along, I could see that there were items that people needed in the crypts. Erag, the Undertaker needed to have some essence. Ah well.

*At this point Doria comes to her table with some piping food. She expresses her thanks and puts the book away and eats her  meal*

Development Journals and Discussion / The Journal of Eghaas Treebringer
« on: August 18, 2006, 08:53:13 pm »
I decided it is I will write  this journal to make an accurate record of my time here.
Since my fsmily died, during my life time I have found solace in my time in Hlint. A few people come to mind through my journeys. There is Dulan, a Paladin of Toran, Tallia, a elf that studies the magic arts. I have noticed that she is quite shy and bashful at times and when we go adventuring she  can get quite scared. When I first met her she has taken to me as someone she can trust and looked to me to protect her. So I kind of treat her like my little sister. And Jaleel, a warrior of sorts, that pledges his alleigance to Rolferein. He is a very noble character and I feel that sometimes  it is a little too extreme. But I know that he has good intentions.

I met a high druid at one point. Brisbane, High Druid of Talimar. And a Queen of Satyr, I think. I cannot recall. When I first met she is very jovial and very warm. She seems to take the a form of a bear and I get that the feeling that she has one in her. I have had many discussions with her, regarding a lot of things especially in regards to Layonara's present and history. The talks reminds me so much of what the tales that my grandmother told me. I miss those times....

There have been two women that my heart has fallen to. A cleric of Mist,by the name of the Muireann, but alas it was not meant to be. She fell for a man by the name of Ark, and although I was heartbroken, I decided that I will let her go.

Currently my heart is with another. Akki. She is of royalty too. She is fun, and caring. My heart is falling deeper in love with her, but  something tells me that she has had bad experiences with her previous relationships. I had a heart to heart with her, and found out that she can't believe that I have stayed with her for so long and that men that she has been with just took something they wanted and left her.

I am not that type of person, I love her dearly, and I wish to let her see so. Which reminds me, I have bought some roses that are kept tidily in my bag that I bought especially for her.

Adventure in Layonara is interesting to say the least, but I plan to write about that in a later page in this journal.

*closes the journal with a sigh of satisfaction, tucks it away in his bag and makes it way to Hlint once more*

General Discussion / adding a bio to existing character
« on: August 04, 2006, 08:56:19 pm »
Hello,

I have been playing my character Eghaas Treebringer for a month and thoroughly enjoying the experience. However what I failed to do at the beginning of the character creation process is to change the biography. Now I have a standard stock bio. Is there any way that I can change that to make it a bit more interesting?

Layonara Server / Time frame for transition to NWN 2?
« on: June 29, 2006, 06:29:41 pm »
I don't know if I am posting in the correct forum. But I would like to know what the timeframe would be for Layonara upgrading to NWN 2?. I recently bought the diamond edition of NWN and looked at the multiplayer aspects. I came across Layonara and have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences. I am going to post on another thread about that somewhere else :) .

But I'll hate to think that after say 6 months of owning NWN and the expansion packs, I will have to go out and buy NWN 2 and all the expansion packs again. Thank you.
