Please do note that these are half giants and half ogres...

Was that in reference to the sneaking thing?

I was talking in general terms, simply stating how I deal with it, rather than making a suggestion for how other people should conduct themselves.

So attacking a giant/ogre that lumbers through town is alright? Because that's pretty much what one or two of my characters would do, but seeing how these monsters are actually Player Characters, I suppose it's not that easy. I just don't see why they think it's alright for them to run around town like some do.

The problem is that PCs often rely on the towns and access to the shops, etc. Whilst it's not ideal for monstrous characters to run through the town, excluding them would only really act to isolate those players even more. Sure, this is part of being a monster, but consistent solitude in a RP world isnt much fun.

Personally though, with my monstrous characters, I try to take a stealthy route through town. Not by sneaking, just by going down the back alleys and generally keeping out of people's way until I get to where I need to go. I don't really see that there's much alternative in those occasions when we absolutely have to venture into or through towns.

Having said that, I don't think any player playing a monster race has room to complain for being hassled, especially in the towns. This is the key point. My character is a goblin, he knows he shouldnt be in the towns, he just doesn't always have a choice, he is always expecting to be hassled in them. I expect (and encourage) people to confront me when they see me, and I know I would probably do the same in reverse with my Dwarf character.

I like the fact that you chose Black Label Society as the back track for your wanton act of vandalism :D

I still find it admirable. I did a music course a few years back and a lot of the people on that were critising me for listening to "really old" music (the cd in question was from 1986). I just find it a shame that a lot of people these days, especially my generation (i'm 20), don't appreciate "classic" works of art. I don't know about over there, but here in England, is become somewhat "uncool" to read books at all, let alone old ones. I find that a shame.

Anyway, sorry for hijacking your thread, heh.

That surprises me. I always had you pegged as English too.

Kudos on the medieval literature too. Most people I've met here wouldn't have the patience for that sort of thing *sigh*

I have to say, I'm surprised that Layo is your first online RP experience. It doesn't show at all, or at least it hasn't in the time our characters have been interacting. Gilshem is one of my favourite Dwarven characters to hang around with in game. I look forward to that continuing :)

Hehe yeah, imagine going from as long as I had it to clean shave in a matter of 10 minutes :P

Man, as a fellow long-hair I will tell you that losing it over an extended period (curse you, male pattern baldness!) is A LOT more painful :(

Rhetorics, people. The question didn't really require an answer.

Why do i suddenly feel as if I'm being patronized? >:/

10
You're joking? How could I have remained oblivious to such a character for so long? I will have to be more vigilant!

General Discussion / Re: Question of Craft Armor/Weapons skill
« on: March 01, 2007, 05:38:55 pm »
No. I made this mistake back when I first created my main character and wasted 7 points on craft weapon. Unless it was changed for V3, points in these skills only help you to customise the appearance on weapons and armour after their creation, not during the process itself.

I'm holding on to my submission for a while, and tweaking it to make it great. I'd advise everyone else who's thinking of submitting for a subrace or for evil (or CN) to hold off a while.

I think you're probably right. I've been looking into reusing an older character of mine, but I'm already having my doubts. By a quick skim of the submissions he'd be at least the fifth drow in the last two days. Which is a shame, the world really needs a cleric of Ca'duz ;)

1 - The main thing you have to do is consistently RP the reasons for you character to be takig that shift. A good way to help is to keep a character development thread (in the appropriate forum), when there is enough if there from a decent period of time, you should write a second bio, which is basically a short continuation of your original, detailing your character's progress since the time he started out.

2 - Prestige class submissions go in the same forum as normal character submissions.

I think that should help, unless the procedure has changed consierably since I did mine :)

I'm going to be late as well, again, 30-60 minutes, but I was late last time too and it didn't make much difference. I WILL be around at some point though :)

I just looked at you guys' profiles, and I find it interesting how we're all these really very different people with regard to our other interests and backgrounds, and yet we all find the same enjoyment from this simple RPG which we play so much.

I'm still not posting my myspace page though :P
