As things stand we have no internet access (I'm posting this from work)
  In theory, we have an engineer scheduled to attend on Friday - so neither of us will be around for a bit

After highjacking my neighbours internet access I should at least have forum and maybe IRC access so I can stop twitching slightly now :p

You'll live. Most of my breaks from Layonara I cancelled my interweb access. It's refreshing sometimes, DMOE, to go trip on real life for a while. And once real life looses it's edge, Layonara will be there waiting for you.

    No Internet?  Amateur.  Sunday I went (inadvertantly) hardcore.  No power at all.  Calculus by candlelight!  (Hope your situation improves soon.)
