I can't seem to get my  characters to transfer over.  I created a test character as Emie Meadows2.

I have Emie Meadows, Cherry, and Randi Coyle .

I just got it on and it worked perfectly. I picked the Diamond edition and it was already in the 1.69 version.  All I had to do was download the all in one hak and the tlk files.

Hello all.

Trying to come back on NWN on steam EE edition, on my mac.  How do I go about getting back in?

Did some searching and found the server but says client and server don't match.

ANy ideas on the way forward?

If you are still on the search for the staff, I have one gathering dust if you are interested.

« on: December 26, 2014, 08:47:51 pm »

What's does this mean?

Extracting to "C:\\NeverwinterNights\\NWN\\hak\\"
Use Path: yes   Overlay Files: no
Extracting layo_tiles.hak
Error: Bad data in file "C:\\NeverwinterNights\\NWN\\hak\\layo_tiles.hak"
Irrecoverable Error: Bad data detected.

I think I may have it.

I'm in!

For some people there's been issues with the downloads ending up being corrupted. I've verified that all files are on the servers in their proper form so this leads me to believe some clients are having issues with lost packets.

I've experimented with a few download managers and found the best was DownThemAll for Firefox.

You can install it from here:

Once you install it and restart Firefox you will be able to right click a link and select: Save Link with DownThemAll!

This will open a box for you to configure the download. Most options are fine but you'll also see an option to run a checksum. The checksum will verify that the file is successfully downloaded in its complete form. The SHA1 checksum for the big hak file is: 345d70b2f595298a4d175ce1ffdc1a96845ba6c9

Paste that code in the field then click the Start! button.

Orth, when I do this I'm getting an error that the checksums of the download didn't match. Am I doing something wrong?

As I look for my old disk...this  popped in my head.  Maybe a link on the home page where new players can  buy and download the game right then?

I had heard that it had changed a bit.  But you would have to know our daughter... she plays Minecraft with her brother on Xbox and had a melt down because she died and dropped all of her things.  No way I want to deal with her loosing a SS.  It would be much worse than me loosing one. ;)

There is a lot of replies and I did not read them all so I may be just repeating what others have mentioned...

I know the permadeath has been the reason for many players to take time off which lead to them stop playing. When we are told that is not even up for discussion that closes the door for many players.

Our 10 year old daughter still ask me to let her make a character here.  I will not let her as long as there is permadeath.  As said many times by many people..... this is a game... not reality . No one wants to spend all this time into creating a character to only lose them.

Also I do not want to have to deal with getting a character approved for her.  It becomes a huge deal and just leads to frustration.

Sounds like something that could be a small part of a WLDQ for Argali.

Doesn't work for GMs and not sure how difficult it is to set it up... but I have seen where after logging in you can add yourself to "Looking for a Party List". It shows the character and the level.  It is wonderful when looking for a group!

Ask Storold IC or OOC.  That is how I finally understood.  Of course IC is more fun. Always fun to hear Storold talk about Toran.

Perhaps you would enlighten us on how they deter death on that server?

Nothing happened if you are raised.  If you respawn you loose gold, xp and taken to where the last place you bind.

Edited to add:  I should add that I totally agree that there should be a consequences for dying.  I just do not think losing your character should be it.  Some are really lucky with the roll against the SM others are not.
