Cool mod
« on: January 26, 2010, 10:11:50 pm »
I have found this cool mod that unlocks the camera angles for NWN. You are now able to play as if you are in a fps, and look up at the sky. Or zoom out a bit more than what NWN usually allows you.

I am presently testing it, it's a client side mod that doesn't impact the server. And as far as I know, it doesn't affect performance either.

It needs a bit of adjusting to do when you are in FP mode due to not seeing your body, but then again, you can see the tips of your weapons, so it helps to know which way you are facing.

Pics will follow.

ps if anyone knows how to just drag and drop a picture using fire fox.. please let me know, or even how to use the insert image tool of the advance options. Cause frankly I'm a bit tired of using a third party file hoster.

Well with continuing testing it, I noticed two things.

The first one is if you sit down or do an emote that would lower you, the hight of the camera doesn't change if you are in FP, which could make things a bit weird saddled up. Have to check it out.

Second, if you happen by an area that doesn't have a top for it's sky box, well you might notice it.

Other than that, I like it very much. Have been going around Mistone with Talia, in FP, and had some great shots. Look at the gallery.

One thing is for sure, you have to get used to the latency of the camera while moving and turning around, since it's a bit contrary to what we normally do, turn our head first then the body. Also clicking to loot is a bit weird, but you get used to get the right distance to do it.

One thing is for sure about this mod. During simple walks, you will get a true perception of how things are big and tall in the world

Old Link updated with a newer one by HB. The previous link was for a SOU only hak, and didn't install for a HotU installation of NWN. 8)

Download it then follow the instruction to install it. Once it is installed you have to use the home key to enter the fpv. Using the top down or drive camera option of the game will give you a different view in first person when you get into it.

Looks clean to me, scanned with Avast Antivirus and Spybot..

If you followed the link provided by HB to the NWVault site, there are two possibilites of download, the 500kB .rar and the ~7kB .rar.
The 500kB .rar makes my virus scanner twitch as well, but yet again, it could be a Fake Positive alarm (?).
The .rar below the 500kB .rar does not make my virus scanner to report anything, yet I noticed one comment in the comments section of the web-page saying AVG Antivirus proclaiming there is a trojan horse in the file.
No idea why, except of a Fake Positive alarm.

Did some research. I use AVG, and Ive found taht due to the nature of how the program was built, it reads as a trojan... D: Haven't found anything reporting it as harmful and/or virus like... SOOOO, against better judgement... I DL'd it, disconntected from the interwebz, disabled AV, ran, deleted, enabled, scanned several hundred times, looked through logs on changes to PC (just did mods to NWMain.exe file) and lived happily ever after... looks cool, I can get down to the brownie level now. :D

Ah yes, I've heard of other people reporting this after trying it. But I had no problems myself with it. Avg did the same but reading through the information provided it was completely benign.
